Tucked into the folds of the exquisite Banhoek Valley, this modern Scandinavian style cottage enjoys panoramic views of the majestic Drakenstein and Simonsberg mountains. Surrounded by wild nature, in a home built of natural materials, poised on the edge of a dam, you will feel as if you are a million miles away from civilisation even though in fact you are only 10 minutes from Stellenbosch. From the cottage, trails will allow you to explore the full extent of the farm and neighbouring wineries. The space Camissa cottage is a beautiful, modern wood cabin. It has a wide deck that overlooks the Drakenstein mountains whose magnificent proportions are reflected in the two dams next to the cottage. A hot tub is placed in the stone boma next to the cabin for you to enjoy a warm bath while taking in the view. There are three bedrooms served by two bathrooms all beautifully decorated with the highest quality linen to enhance your stay. The kitchen is fully equipped and the dining area will comfortably accommodate you and your guests. There is a large outdoor braai area, with a fire pit braai, surrounded by dry-stone walls next to the cottage. Guest access This is your private cabin for the duration of your stay. If you are feeling adventurous you are welcome to explore the rest of the farm, which extends over 60 hectares of beautiful mixed agriculture and wild fynbos. There are mountain bike paths and streams that meander through the farm and several dams that you can swim in at your own risk. There is a jetty on the edge of the lake to allow you to sunbathe and swim. The whole Banhoek conservancy is at your disposal and right on your doorstep so we encourage you to explore and ask that you are respectful when crossing our neighbours' land and if you are leaving our farm that you pay the tiny conservancy fee which helps to keep the whole area magnificent- details are on the Banhoek conservancy website and operate on an honesty basis. You will need a car to get into town from the farm as Uber is not always reliable in our area and drivers often cancel the ride when they arrive at the farm gate. You can ask us for a list of well priced, trusted local drivers who will collect you at your cabin. They should be booked in advance as they get busy. If you do take an Uber home, please do not give out the security codes to access the farm. If you wish to use Uber to collect you from the farm, meet the Uber at the bottom gate and leave your own car on the parking bay just inside the gate. Other things to note On arrival guests have a welcome gift of a bottle of our own wine, The Menagerie Syrah (tee totallers are welcome to request juice instead) tea, ground coffee, some nespresso pods, milk, sugar, oil & vinegar, wood and toilet paper are provided to get you started. Should you wish to purchase our grass fed beef or lamb, or a bottle or our exquisite olive oil, please let me know.
