Description
Room inside the Agriturismo Solidor, a tuff farmhouse embraced by a large olive grove in the hilly Maremma, not far from Pitigliano. Breakfast is included, and it is possible to have half-board service (+25.00 €/person, drinks not included) with a traditional or vegetarian menu with a prevalence of products from our biodynamic garden. The room has a private bathroom. The property is part of the Solidor Biodynamic Farm (Demeter certified). The space Solidòr is a biodynamic farm (about 33 hectares) (international Demeter brand), in the center of one of the largest olive groves in Grosseto (7500 plants, "Frantoio" variety), in a panoramic position, 380 m above sea level, completely isolated. In summer, it is cool and breezy, in the silence of the countryside and almost without mosquitoes. Two typical Maremma farmhouses, in old hand-cut "exposed stone" tuff, have been completely renovated, where possible with attention to green building. The agritourism capacity is 12 beds in 8 rooms with bathroom and large living room available to guests. In winter, heating with radiant floor panels allows for comfortably diffused heat and individual and autonomous temperature regulation in each room. Our cuisine ranges from traditional Tuscan cuisine, with strictly local meats, to vegetarian cuisine based on soups, rustic pies and various seasonal vegetables from our biodynamic garden. The water is heated with solar-thermal panels. Electricity is mainly supplied by a photovoltaic system. We produce and sell, also in the company, our high-quality Extra Virgin Olive Oil from organic cultivation (Codex Certification), biodynamic with Demeter and IGP (Protected Geographical Indication "Toscano") certification and international brand. The hilly climate and the tuffaceous, i.e. volcanic, rocky soil naturally give the cultivated products strong organoleptic properties. The combination of all these characteristics is very rare and makes our oil particularly valuable. A week is not enough to visit everything that this area offers, even with its precious surroundings no more than an hour's drive away. This area is rich in outstanding cultural, historical and artistic peculiarities in natural environments of exceptional beauty. Inhabited continuously since 1000 BC, first by the Villanovan civilization, then by the Etruscans, the Romans, medieval and then Renaissance societies, it preserves traces of remarkable and fascinating interest from this ancient history. Within a radius of a few kilometers, you can visit characteristic, secret places, such as the rock settlements and the mysterious Etruscan "Vie cave" that are very evocative and unique: sites often not mentioned in traditional tourist guides, such as the Romitori of the early Middle Ages and the temples carved into the tuff rock with frescoes still clearly visible. Two stables nearby offer ample opportunities for horseback riding in the rustic and arcane Maremma countryside. Even for cycling enthusiasts, the varied and rich intertwining of roads and paths, paved and dirt, fully meets the needs, as car traffic is very low and in some cases almost nil. In the Lamone forest you can travel many kilometers of roads and dirt paths, in the cool shade of beautiful plants, even centuries-old, observing the wildlife and semi-wild horses. Everywhere you see animals grazing or in the barn: sheep, cows, pigs and farm animals. In the evening, on the way to the agriturismo, it is easy to meet wild animals: wild boars, porcupines, badgers, foxes, squirrels, nocturnal birds of prey and, if you are lucky, even deer. Pitigliano is 9 km away (12 minutes by car). With about an hour's drive you can reach important cities such as Orvieto, Grosseto, Viterbo and again Tuscania and Tarquinia with their rich artistic and cultural heritage, as well as the sea of Argentario, Orbetello, Talamone and Ansedonia. Also an hour's drive away is the Parco dell'Uccellina and so is Vulci and the beautiful Civita di Bagnoregio. Just half an hour away is Capalbio with the famous "Tarot Garden" by Niky de Saint Falle. The wild Lamone Forest can be reached in a few minutes. Lake Bolsena in about half an hour with Bolsena, Montefiascone, Marta, Capodimonte and Gradoli with its splendid Farnese palace. Siena and Rome can be reached in two hours. The Thermal Baths of Saturnia in about 20-25 minutes and in a little less than those of Sorano.
