A cricket chorus and gentle waves (Villa Serena)

Description

Beach cottage perfect for small to medium-size families, or small groups. Has a full kitchen (except oven). Gentle waves, ocean at your feet. Rustic interior décor with native materials. Access by ~125 steps, great exercise, not for the weak of heart! Parking at top. Great Mayon views from the beach cottage. The space This beach house, Villa Serena, is an annex of Mirisbiris Garden and Nature Center. 2 large bedrooms (sharing 1 indoor bathroom with hot shower), spacious living/dining room, and kitchen. A bucket flush toilet and unheated shower are out back. Nice small garden, a teaser for what's a short walk up the road at Mirisbiris. Each of the two bedrooms has a queen bed and a pull-out single. In the common area, there are 4 single beds (as bunks). Maximum of 10 pax. The base price of P5000 is for up to 8 pax. For additional pax beyond 8 we charge P500 (adult) or P250 (child between 7 and 12 years old). The limit on numbers of guests is due to limits in water supply and septic capacity. One of the obvious attractions here is swimming. It's relatively safe, but there is no lifeguard. Guest access Villa Serena is rented only as a whole, so the place will be yours. You are automatically guests of Mirisbiris Garden and Nature Center too, 0.7 km farther up the road. You are welcome to explore the Visitor Center and trails through Mirisbiris Garden, Forest, and Beach. At the gate to forest, tell the attendant that you are overnight guests at Villa Serena (for free entrance). The restaurant at the Mirisbiris Garden Visitor Center (above the roadway), is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, though your breakfast will normally be served at Villa Serena. Other things to note Be sure to note that Villa Serena is 125 steps down from the parking area, and 125 back up. So if you have a weak heart, please look at our listing for Mirisbiris Garden and Nature Center ("Enjoy a large tropical garden"). Don't be surprised if you see house lizards or a gecko; they're harmless and keep bugs in check. Occasionally at night, you might hear fishermen along the beach; don't worry. In the late afternoon and early morning, one of our staff drops by to pump water. Re: swimming. As noted above, it's relatively safe but there is no lifeguard. Swim at your own risk. We don't recommend snorkeling over the coral reef here; it's silty and the reef at Mirisbiris beach is cleaner. Also, be aware, coral is sharp and cuts are painful!
