“Hickory” 4x4 Rustic Cabin Retreat with Fireplace
Description
Rustic mountain getaway nestled among the trees, with access to 150 acres of woods for exploring. 4x4 or AWD required in winter. The space Glamping at its best! Rustic cabin rental on our 150 acre property located on Mt. Solitude in Southern Vermont. This post and beam cabin has a modern rustic vibe, with amenities such as a memory foam mattress, hand built furniture, and hand milled wood to build the cabin. The cabin features a kitchenette with a single burner cooktop, kettle, french press, mini fridge, and accessories like pots & pans. A sitting area with two sturdy chairs and small table, a fire pit along the side of the building. Out your front door a covered porch offers a great spot to sip coffee in the morning and enjoy the sound of the birds. Our open playing field is directly across from the cabin with perennial beds, a veggie garden, picnic tables, and an open air field house with coverage from the rain. There is easy access to marked trails for hiking just steps from the cabin, a great view from the deck by the spring fed pond, colorful grounds to wander with various gardens, and the happy melody of native birds from sunrise to sunset. All of our facilities are *rustic*, though this cabin is newly built with rough sawn lumber- there is a shared *unheated* bathroom outhouse a 1 min walk from the cabin, a port-o-poty just past that. Further up the driveway, a 2 min walk, there is a shared heated bathroom/shower building, the “Wash House”, with deep well drinkable water from the faucets, as well as a green summer shower building which has our camp logo painted on the front of it. When you get to the top of the driveway, turn around for a million dollar view of Mt. Monadnock and the Connecticut river valley below. We run a wilderness summer camp throughout the height of summer season, and have ample space for others to come stay and explore on the shoulder seasons. We’re pet friendly! We have chickens who will adoringly eat any of your non-meat compost, and two friendly dogs on site. Enjoy the fall foliage from our summit trail looking out on Mt. Monadnock, Governor’s Mountain, and the valley of the Connecticut river. In the winter, we have snow shoes available to rent (or bring your own!) and well marked trails. We’re only 35 mins to Mt. Snow and 1 hr to Okemo. We have other cabins for rent on-site and live here, you will see a human or two, despite this it will feel like you have the place to yourself! This is a slow paced relaxed home away from home. Hickory has easy access immediately adjacent to our private driveway. Propane heaters are turned on mid Oct. The charm of this property and your stay here are the tranquil forests, babbling streams, diverse wildlife, and ever changing seasonal landscape. Come melt away for a few nights, at this peaceful mountain getaway. Guest access In addition to your cabin you have access to a shared composting toilet building all year as well as a shared shower house. Both of these buildings are a 5 min walk up the hill from Hickory cabin. Pool access can be requested June-Sept and hot tub is shared with other guests in 30 min increments. Wood bundles can be purchased for $7, let us know if you would like us to drop one off with you. Or you can collect dead fall from the surrounding forest as there is plenty of wood there. Other things to note We are in a very rural relaxed part of southern Vermont. Drive slow, enjoy the views, wave, and connect with others. It’s a quiet location with stunning views. We are only 6 miles to downtown Brattleboro with shops, co-op, theaters, and breweries. Hot tub is a soaking tub, no jets. Please refrain from taking wood from our stacked pile, we use that to heat our home during the winter. No entrance into buildings other than your own cabin, bathrooms, and shower house. No radios, Bluetooth speakers, or other speakers loud enough for other guests to hear. We are in the woods with purpose and so are you, soak up the sounds of the wilderness & its natural symphony. No fireworks, no glass bottles please. Park in your designated spot please. If additional parking is needed let us know and we can usually provide space in our lower staff lot. Please clean up after your pet, do not leave them unattended in the cabin.
