Little Island Retreat at Rookery Meadow

Set in the beautiful Suffolk countryside, you have the lake and Island to yourself for a truly romantic and relaxing getaway. With your own bridge across, a stay at "Little Island Retreat" is true exclusive glamping. Our wooden glamping cabin features a king-size bed, sink, decking area, seating, BBQ and eco toilet. A short walk away is a shower room with electric shower, flushing toilet, sink, fridge, USB point & plug sockets. Linen, towels, crockery and basic cookware are all provided. The space Little Island Retreat is your very own island retreat, right in the heart of the Suffolk Countryside; offering exclusive glamping at its best. The island is situated on a two-acre lake on the edge of a wild-flower meadow on our family farm. Rookery Meadow features 400-year-old oak trees, and is home to sheep and horses, and the lake boasts a jetty and lakeside walk. Just outside the meadow is where you will park, before walking up the winding meadow path to the little gate that leads you to the lakeside. Here you will enter your very own tranquil spot, free from electricity and running water. You will walk around the lake to the bridge, crossing to Little Island Retreat. The island looks out over the lake through its large windows and double glass doors. To the rear you will find an ample decking area with rustic seating and a BBQ with ring hob and kettle. The views over the lake are stunning. Inside, a king size bed ensures a good night’s sleep, whilst the sink provides water for simple washing. A bean bag and footrest offer an extra comfy spot to sit and read or relax, and games ensure you have simple entertainment. Solar power provides lighting, with LED lanterns and candles to create a romantic atmosphere. Crockery, cutlery and basic cookware is provided along with a kettle that can be heated on the BBQ. A cool box helps keep basic provisions chilled. An eco-toilet is situated right next to the cabin through a lockable stable door. A short walk away, next to your car, a shower and utility room is available for your exclusive use. The shower room has an electric shower, sink with hot running water and a flushable toilet. Towels and eco-friendly toiletries are complimentary. The utility room has a stainless-steel sink with hot running water, perfect for washing up your BBQ cookware. There is also a fridge to store food and drink, coat hooks, plug sockets and USB charging points so you can stay plugged in to the outside world (if you want to!). Next to the shower and utility room the patio and wooden gazebo offer a quiet spot to sit and eat. We have added a communal games room back at the farm yard which has a table tennis table, darts board, music stereo, sofas and hopefully a pool table soon. It also has electric / usb points Continental breakfast basket or a pantry stocked with locally sourced bacon, eggs, bread, jam and milk is available for an additional charge of £20. Luxury welcome hamper including local beers, wine and tasty snacks also available upon request. Guest access You will have exclusive access to the lake and island. The perfect place to walk, sunbathe, picnic and relax. Your shower and utility room is a short walk away in the garden next to the farmhouse and farmyard. You will be the only people with access to the shower room. Other things to note Please note that the shower room and parking area are on a working farm so you will need to be vigilant of farm machinery. We have horses grazing on site in the meadow next to the lake and horse carers will tend to the equines each day. You may also have sheep grazing nearby. Although next to your private lake and island there is a two-acre meadow separating you to ensure your privacy.
