Close to Drumshanbo, Sligo, Carrick 0n Shannon and Arigna; there are numerous historical attractions and walking trails at the doorstep. Have a drink at the Miner's Bar in Arigna, enjoy a 5 star meal at Kilronan Castle, or attend one of many traditional music festivals in the area. Take a step back in time. The space There are not many traditional cottages left in Ireland. This cottage is recently renovated with modern conveniences including central heating, 3 fireplaces, dishwasher, and washing machine. A complete break from urban living, guests can rediscover the stars and silence at night while the open fire glows within the walls of the house. In the morning open the half door and take in the sights and smells of the ancient Arigna valley. The local area is perfect for hillwalkers with 500 km of marked trails. The Miner's Way trails are the footpaths that local miners would take to get to work. After the closure of the mines in 1990 a museum was established where retired miner's conduct tours for visitors. Up the road in Ballyfarnon is the beautifully restored Kilronan Castle. The village of Keadue and town of Drumshanbo are close by and the drive to both will provide breathtaking views of Lough Alan. The Arigna valley is a mystical place with evidence of habitation and early farming from megalithic and neolithic times. Nowhere is this history so ingrained in the landscape as in the Arigna Valley area. Guest access All areas of the house are accessible to guests.
