The Fine Pine
Description
Find your way to the Fine Pine tucked away on a woodland alvar. Embrace nature and experience living off grid in this Manitoulin treasure. Wake up to birdsong in the mornings and enjoy relaxing around the fire under the stars at night. The space Set among the trees, the Fine Pine is tucked away in the back corner of our property where you can experience what it is like to live off-grid during your stay. Main cabin. The main cabin is south facing with a wall of windows that makes this space bright throughout the day. There is a queen sized bed as well as a small table inside. Linens and towels are provided. Outdoor kitchen. The outdoor kitchen is a basic set up with a cooler to keep your food cool as well as a Coleman stove for cooking basic meals. Should you wish to cook over the fire, we ask that you bring your own cookware. Cutlery and dishes, as well as a few pots/pans are also provided. We ask our guests to provide their own ice for the cooler as well as drinking water as the drinking water that we provide is not potable. Outdoor shower and sink. The outdoor shower and sink area are powered by the sun i.e. the water that we provide is heated by the sun, therefore showers generally will not be warm/hot. The water that we provide is from L. Huron and is not filtered - therefore we encourage our guests to bring their own drinking water. The water that we provide is good for showering, dishes and handwashing only. Outhouse. You will have access to a private outhouse that is both bright and clean. Because our land does not have much soil, being mostly rock, we compost our human waste i.e. we operate using a bucket system and empty the buckets during your stay. We let the human waste sit for two years before it composts back into dirt which we add to our flower gardens around the property. Fire pit. There is an outdoor fire pit that guests are welcome to use. We provide the firewood as part of your experience. All we ask is that you put the fire out before leaving the area or going to bed. Guest access When you arrive you will park to the left in the parking area at the front of the property. We will be here to greet you and to show you to the Fine Pine Cabin. It is about a two - three minute walk through the forest to the cabin. We have a wagon that is available to guests to transport your things. Other things to note We are in compliance with the Short-term Accomodation By-laws as outlined by the Township of Gordon Barrie Island, Manitoulin Island. STA License # GBI - 0002
