A large thatched cottage dating back 400 yrs, Dynes Cottage is set in a complex of 3 houses & surrounded by beautiful countryside. With a private outdoor courtyard & a beautiful orchard, you can relax with the whole family. Sleeps 10. The cottage is just 1/2 a mile from Finchingfield, one of the prettiest villages in the country, with great pubs & tea rooms. The cottage is hosted by Catherine who lives on site. Acorn Cottage (4 bed) can be rented in conjunction with Dynes cottage. The space Dynes Cottage (sleeps 10) is a large thatched cottage set on a small complex with two other residential properties. The complex is owned by Cath & Al and is just half a mile along a very quiet country lane from the beautiful and quaint village of Finchingfield, with its pubs, antique shops and tea rooms. Acorn Cottage (sleeps 4) may be booked in conjunction with Dynes Cottage and is on the same complex. The site is very peaceful and surrounded by fields. The front aspect of the cottage looks out over fields and boasts beautiful sunset views. There is plenty of parking onsite and the cottage has a large private outdoor courtyard with an outdoor dining area. The Cottage also benefits from use of a beautiful orchard with apple, plum and pear trees. The orchard also has a large climbing frame with a slide, monkey cars and swings for your little ones to enjoy! The cottage has a large, recently renovated, kitchen with seating for 10 people. There are 3 additional living areas, including a lounge with an open fire and 400 year old beams, a games-room with a football table and playstation, and a dramatic dining room which seats 8. The cottage has two separate staircases with two bedrooms up each one. The fifth bedroom is downstairs and can be treated as ensuite if required. We do welcome dogs, but only if they are friendly with other dogs and children as we have our own dog, Maggie, on site. We'd ask that all dog mess is picked up and all muddy paws are cleaned! The cottage is surrounded by fields with a large selection of beautiful off-road walks. Finchingfield was part of the Tour De France route in 2014 and the country lanes provide miles of picturesque road cycling routes. Cath & Al are both keen walkers and cyclists and can provide routes if requested. Please be aware that the cottage is on a septic tank, so no wet wipes or sanitary products may be flushed. Guest access Dynes cottage is an hour east of London and 20 minutes from Stansted airport. The nearest train station is Braintree which is approximately 7 miles away and has trains direct to Liverpool Street Station. Whilst taxis are available it is best to arrange in advance. It is recommended that people bring a car for their stay if they wish to enjoy the area beyond the village. There is parking for two cars on site. The cottage is approximately a half mile walk to the picturesque village of Finchingfield and there are a variety of attractions in the area. Other things to note Dynes Cottage is ideally located for families looking to escape London for a break. Whilst only an hour away from London, Finchingfield is a world away with its idyllic country lanes and picturesque tearooms. There is a small fenced off pond in the Orchard, a climbing frame / swing set and a greenhouse, so young children should be supervised. You might spot Cath or Al pottering around there tidying up the fruit and veg that they grow there, so don't be afraid to say Hi!
