Quinta do Cobral

You will stay on our lovely farm, sharing with no other guests. Close to The Serra da Estrela Mountains, lots of beautiful river beaches and historical cities. It is a traditional, cozy and private granite cottage situated in a quiet river valley surrounded by woodland, birds and wildlife, with EXCLUSIVE use of our salt water pool. the house is good for couples, families (with kids) we do not charge more during holiday times, same great price all year, and pets (but please check first). The space We live in beautiful Central Portugal and it is our aim to impact on our lovely environment as little as possible. Our farm is totally off-grid, we provide all our own electricity from solar panels on the roof, we also use the sun to heat our hot water, the water comes from our own private bore hole. A wood boiler and wood burning range cooker heats our space and provides us with additional hot water, underfloor heating and cooking. Our outdoor kitchen, which we mainly use in the summer when our range cooker is not lit in the house, is fired by wood and, because it has a proper chimney, is safe to use all year round, even in the summer when normal BBQ's are not permitted (you do have a private gas BBQ on your terrace however). The air here is wonderful, clear and clean. We are surrounded by beautiful views, fabulous countryside and woodlands. You can walk for miles without ever treading on a tarmac road. We can provide you with a range of walks from Casa da Bezerra (our little house) in our Activities folder as well as fab kids activity packs and bug hunting gear, walking to any of our local restaurants or bars is easy even at night guided by the stars and moon. Your first mornings FREE breakfast will be waiting for you in the kitchen, you can order each day, price dependant on what you order. Guest access We have some lovely animals on our farm, feel free to visit them at any time but be aware they might be a bit timid with you at first. We do have electric fencing though so take care when walking alongside the animal enclosures. We also have a friendly Springer Spaniel called Blue and two friendly rescue dogs Ylva and Ted all our dogs love kids. We also have 4 lovely cats. Kiko and our young cats Luna, Foxy & Lucky, they are especially friendly and absolutely love cuddles. Our vegetable garden is fully productive as is the poly tunnel. We also have our own olive trees and a vineyard. We are really happy for you to enjoy all these spaces and can give you lots of information about what we are growing if you ask. Our farm has the River Cobral as a boundary, if you want to have a dip in the river, please feel free to do so. The Saltwater Pool - the pool terrace is directly below the main terrace and is equipped with sun loungers and a comfortable shaded cabana with seating. We are very happy for you to use the pool at anytime but make sure you take full responsibility for your children. Please note - we provide swimming towels, please don't use the bedroom towels by the pool. BBQ's (apart from the gas one provided) and open fires are not allowed. Please note - if you arrive after 10.30pm a charge of €25 will be payable. Other things to note Our camino (driveway) is a public road but in places it is an unpaved, dirt track (most of it is now concrete). There are clear signs at the top of our drive, if you don't see the sign for Quinta do Cobral it is not our drive! It is mostly concrete and perfectly passable but you will need to drive slowly and carefully. We will send you further information to help you find us nearer your stay. Please do not rely on sat nav by inputting our address, sat nav is very bad here and will take you to the wrong place! Also note - if you arrive after 10.30pm a charge of €25 will be payable.
