Welcome to Athey Mountain Escape the City to the stunning Southern Highlands, only 1 hour and 45 minutes drive from Sydney. Our beautiful property offers you 25 acres to explore on bushwalks, search for wombat holes, play with the chickens and study the abundance of wildlife. This home offers you a comfortable, family friendly retreat that is ideal for groups with 5 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, a swimming pool, gardens, and a fully equipped separate studio with a bar and pool table. The space We are your hosts, Keirin and Ben, we live in Inner Sydney with our children and spend many weekends and holidays at our stunning “weekender” property in the Highlands. We also have another set of hosts, Mick and Lyn (Ben’s parents) who reside on the property in a separate home, adjacent to the main house. We want to offer this special home to other families and groups to enjoy the sheer beauty, peace, and fresh air of the Highlands. Athey Mountain offers you a relaxed, comfortable style of home with 5 bedrooms (2 king beds!!), 3 bathrooms, 2 living areas (one downstairs with log fire and one upstairs with breath taking views across the valley) a gorgeous formal dining room that seats 10 (perfect to get the group together to share some of the delicious food and wine that you can pick up locally!) The kitchen is fully equipped with 2 ovens and a 6 burner gas stove, a large island bench for informal eating, and another dining table with bench seating. The kitchen has floor to ceiling glass sliding doors opening onto the deck, making the most of the stunning views across the pool and into the valley. There are 2 smart TV's with Netflix, Stan, Disney and the free to air channels, as well as a "kiddie corner" with a DVD player, kids DVD's, baskets of toys and a rocking horse. Also included is WIFI. The fully fenced garden is just perfect for the kids to roam safely with a cubby house, a slide, and a trampoline. A large tub of kids toys such as balls, cricket set, tennis racquets. There is an outdoor fire pit for use during the winter months, which is a stunning location to watch the sun set over the western sky, and admire the abundance of stars as night falls. In the summer months the pool will be your sanctuary, the views are just beautiful (the pool is not heated) Within the garden there is a fully self contained outbuilding, also known as "The Bar" with an actual bar! Also equipped with a fridge, TV with WiFi/Netflix, a Bluetooth music system, pool table, darts board and a log fire, with sliding doors opening onto the garden and valley views. On the property there are chickens, and a cat called Bargo. The animals live with Mick and Lyn in the adjacent home on the property, which is separated by a gate. If you would like your children to interact with the chickens Mick can take them to help collect eggs. Outside of the secure fenced garden there is 25 acres of bush to explore, 2 dams and a walking trail around the property. There are numerous wombat holes that the kids love to go hunting for, as well as other animals to be spotted such as Kangaroos, Deer, Kookaburras, Cockatoos and Parrots. (And a few resident magpies who like to be fed!) This property is ideal for young families or groups of friends to come together and relax, and we know you will love it as much as we do! Extra things to note: - Ben’s parents, Mick and Lyn reside on the property in a separate home, adjacent to the main house. They are available if you need assistance, or to provide information about the local area. Aside from that, you won’t even notice them! Your privacy is ensured. - The kitchen will be stocked with pantry staples such as Oil, Spices, Salt and Pepper, Nescafé coffee, tea bags and sugar. - For the winter months the home is heated by the main combustion log fire, we supply all the wood. If you aren't comfortable /experienced with keeping the fire going, Mick will happily come by and load it up a few times a day. We also have heaters in every bedroom, and a gas fire in the kitchen. - This is also our weekend property, so you will find some of our personal belongings such as kids toys and photographs around the house.
