Traditional stone house on main road from Pentraeth to Llangefni. Off-road parking for 2-3 cars. Bicycle shed with lock. Sleeps 4+ persons. Sunny upstairs bedrooms, dedicated work space. Kitchen well equipped for self-catering. WiFi and radio but no TV. Plumbing somewhat antiquated. Spiders common. Garden with red squirrels and views of Eryri. Village community shop AM only, adjacent children’s playground, no pub. Public footpaths. Wetland Reserves. Bus stop close by, service infrequent. The space Normally completely private. Adjacent Annex, with separate entrance and kitchen, occasionally occupied by owner or family member who uses upstairs bathroom, otherwise available as a concession for use of toilet, electric shower and wash basin (cold water only). UPSTAIRS Master Bedroom with double bed, snug and sunny, overlooks the road. Eryri can be glimpsed above roofs of opposite cottages. Side tables, writing desk, clothes-hanging corner. Night storage heater. East Bedroom, delightfully spacious, windows on three sides, including view of former orchard, and steps up to magical garden. One single bed, wardobe, night storage heater, work-top table suitable as dedicated work space. Antique chest. Inflatable mattress available for extra guest if requested in advance. Portable electric clothes dryer for clothes that are almost dry and/or temporary storage. Bed linen and towels stored upstairs. Bathroom scales, hair dryer, iron and ironing board, hot-water bottles and basic first aid box may wander from one floor to another, depending on guest preference. DOWNSTAIRS Bed-Sitting Room with single bed, sofa, wood-burning stove, books of local interest, puzzles, scrabble, radio, CDs. but no TV. Kitchen-Dining Room has basics for self-catering: electric hob and oven, microwave, toaster, electric kettle, hand mixer, cutlery, pots and pans and dishes. Under-counter refrigerator with limited freezer space. Round dining table with chairs. Wood-burning stove and night storage heater. Two cosy arm chairs next to front window and low table with White Instructions File, local guide books and catalogues about the artists commemorated on the plaques on the front of the house. Bathroom: bath, electric shower, wash-basin, body soap, shampoo, toilet, washing machine, iron, hair dryer. Hot water runs on night electricity, if used up during the day, booster switch is in airing cupboard in upstairs middle bedroom. Under the stairs: ironing board, bag of clothes pegs, garden tools, brooms. Clothes lines in the garden. No dryer. Guest access Immediate access from off-road parking either through front gate or back gate. Key box is attached to back door. Garden shed available upon request for storing bicycles or accessing folding chairs that can be taken out into the garden. Lower garden and old orchard, private for guests, child-friendly, with wall slates for chalk drawing, sheltered from the wind, suirable for outdoor meals and barbeques. Middle level is the gardener-caretaker’s allotment garden, he keeps chickens. Upper levels, popular with song-birds and red squirrels, has panoramic views, is available for strolling. playing hide-and seek, picking blackberries, gathering hazelnuts or bumping into friends of the owner who have been permission to stroll there to admire the ‘dolmen’ sculpture. Talwrn is a peaceful village without a pub. Good local walks include Cors Bodeilio, National Nature Wetland Reserve with broadwalk, approached via Bodeilio Community Shop (run by volunteers) and Children’s Playing Fields adjacent to Village Hall. There are good hedges for blackberry picking (August - October). Talwrn Wild Garden Retreat is conveniently located 2.5 miles from Llangefni, the county town with Aldi, Asda, Lidl, Iceland, Home Bargains, 2 post offices, public library, local butcher, laundries, pubs and cafes. In the opposite direction is Pentraeth, with a service station-cum-convenience store & branch post office, Panton Arms pub, gateway to good coastal restaurants in Menai Bridge, Beaumaris, Red Wharf Bay and Benllech. Anglesey has splendid beaches and Heritage Coastal Paths. Walking and climbing in the Snowdonia National Park, sailing on the Menai Straits on Puffin Island Cruises, TWGR is a good base for exploring the attractions of North Wales: Other things to note In cold weather, logs provided for initial use of wood-burning stoves. Extra logs can be purchased at petrol stations, hardware stores or Home Bargains in Llangefni. WIFI upgraded to fibre. Mobile phone reception poor. International adaptor plugs available. File with house-related information available. Easy access from A55, about 2 hours by car from Manchester Airport and 30 minutes from the port of Holyhead. Closest station Bangor, 3 hours 30 minutes by train from London Euston. Request stop at Llanfairpwll. Bus stop nearby, infrequent service to Llangefni and Beaumaris. Llangefni a hub for services to Holyhead, Bangor and elsewhere. Taxis from Bangor take approximately 15 minutes to the house. Taxi services in Llangefni.
