Description

A 'Tiny House', off-grid Shepherd's Hut with panoramic views of the spectacular Brecon Beacons. Accessed by its own gated lane and set in a private paddock, "Oliveduck Hut" is the perfect retreat for couples, or singles who prefer their own company. An ideal ‘base camp’ as you explore the National Park and surrounding area. Light a fire and get lazy, chill out in the hottub, star-gaze at the incredible night skies, or just take in the majestic Pen y Fan as you plan (or recover from) your ascent. The space Inside: A uniquely designed, carefully crafted and wonderfully cosy Shepherd’s Hut / Tiny House clad in cedar, with oak-framed double-glazing. "Oliveduck Hut" is set in its own paddock about 200 metres from your nearest neighbour (your hosts Tim and Sarah). The floor-to-ceiling picture window looks out to Pen y Fan, while a side-door takes you to a decked terrace that opens onto rolling pastures and an equally stunning view. The Hut really feels like a miniature home-from-home and is finished to a very high specification: wood burning stove, oak floor, very comfortable double-bed, gas oven and hob, fridge (with small ice box), sink, TV, Bluetooth speaker, table and chairs, and WiFi. Dressing gowns, kitchen equipment, and eco-washing products are all included. Outside: The paddock’s parking area and walkways are gravelled. The decking terrace has a table and chairs and a Weber gas BBQ (with grill and hot plate/plancha). The unheated WC/shower room is only 10 metres from the Hut and has a composting toilet and hot shower. Outside, on its rear wall, is a large sink with hot and cold running water. There’s a picnic bench on the grass, a bench beneath the tree near the stream, and deck chairs. And not forgetting, a two-person, wood-fired hot-tub, that we’ll fill with water ahead of your arrival. The paddock is located in a grazing field with a turning area, established trees and hedgerows, and a stream. Guests are welcome to use this field during their stay. Off-grid: The Hut’s electrics are powered by solar energy and a 12v power supply. There are two USB charge points and a car-type 12v socket. Unfortunately, there’s no capacity for 240v devices like hair dryers and straighteners, but we’re happy to charge your laptops for you. The 4G WiFi occasionally dips to 3G. The hob, oven, shower and BBQ all run on bottled gas. Heating for the Hut and hot tub comes from wood-fired stoves and you’ll have more than enough kindling and seasoned wood to last. A fire pit is available to hire. There’s hot and cold running water in the shower and outside sink. Please use only the eco-friendly shampoo, conditioner, soap and washing-up liquid provided. Running water is available in the Hut's sink. This runs off an electric pump supplied from canisters kept under the sink. It’s not heated, but you can fill canisters with hot water from the outside sink if you need to. Other: You can lock bicycles or motorcycles to the base of the decking area. We can supply a strong chain, lock and cover. Please contact us in advance if you need dry secure storage. Other things to note Our black and white cat, Patch, loves to visit. We're not offended if you prefer to scoot him away!
