Description

Oasthouse Loft is warm and comfortable, very well appointed, with all the facilities you need for a relaxed and restful stay while enjoying beautiful quiet of the surrounding countryside and wildlife. The views are spectacular across the nearby grassland farm and wooded valley. The Loft nestles on our small nature friendly farm surrounded in peaceful solitude only interrupted by the sound of owls at night. The space Look out from the Oasthouse Loft onto spectacular 360 degree views of stunning Sussex countryside. Located on a grassland farm, the Loft sleeps up to four and is just a 15min drive from the Kent/Sussex coast. Peaceful, beautiful, and super-comfortable in all seasons. The Loft is a modern conversion with one double bedroom, plus a double sofabed in the open-plan living area. Light and airy with incredible bird's eye views on all sides, the Loft remains snug and cosy thanks to a wood-burning stove alongside central heating. The kitchen is fully equipped and a welcome pack of basic essentials is provided upon arrival. Explore our farm and the local area on foot, or wander further afield along our local footpaths if you'd like to go further. There is ample safe parking. You will have access to your own section of garden with table and chairs and you are welcome to use our boules court. If it's peace and quiet you're after we'll leave you to enjoy your long lie-ins and appreciate the landscape. We live in the house next door so are on hand at all times if you need us. Northiam is on the Kent/Sussex border and is an area of traditional pastureland, woods and rivers leading down to the nearby South Coast. The area is brimming with spectacular National Trust properties, historic homes and gardens. There is also the East Sussex Steam Railway, the pretty market town of Tenterden, the traditional fishing town of Hastings, the medieval smuggler's town of Rye and the famous 1066 battlefields from the Battle of Hastings. The Oasthouse Loft is in a fairly remote but beautiful spot so ideally you will need a car to get there. We are a 20 minute drive from Robertsbridge train station, it's a 1hr 15 minute train journey from London and the nearest airport, Gatwick, is 1hr 25mins away. Guest access Guests have access to their own space and the surrounding garden which is quite extensive. There are a number of areas within the garden specially set aside for the exclusive use of our guests. There is also ample off road parking. Detailed Access information for The Loft There is a level parking area for one car, 20 metres from the access stairs. A very shallow ramp 1.2 metres wide and 2 metres long precedes the access stairs. Oasthouse Loft is on the upper storey of a two storey building and can be reached via a substantial wooden external staircase with 11 steps 87 cm wide, 26 cm deep and 20 cm high. There are solid banisters on the right hand side all the way up. The top step has a rise of 22 cm and lands on a platform 100 cm wide and 120 cm long, with a solidly built banister surround and a lockable gate to prevent children falling down the stairs. The access door is 86 cm wide, 186 cm high and has a small step up 13 cm high. The interior is on one level with a solid wooden floor and no raised steps in the internal doorways. The bathroom has a tiled floor with a roughened surface to prevent slipping. There is a 26 cm high step into the shower. The ceiling height is 193 cm in the centre section which is 200 cm wide. The inside of the eves fall from 193 cm to a height of 93 cm over a distance of 158 cm on both sides. No complaints have been received about restricted ceiling height or lack of usable floor space due to the slope of the eves. The double bed is 193 cm long (6ft 4 inches) and 137 cm wide (4ft 6 inches). The good quality sofa bed is 133 cm wide (4ft 8 inches) and 195 cm (6ft 5 inches) long when erected. The dining table sits 3 persons comfortably and can be extended to fit 4 or 5 persons at a maximum. Oasthouse Loft has good lighting all round with ample natural light from many windows and good electric lighting. Other things to note Well behaved controllable dogs or other pets are welcome by prior arrangement. The garden is enclosed and please note that we have two well behaved terriers of our own. Dogs must be controlled when they are near our goats. Please note that there will be an extra charge of £10.00 per visit.
