Description

Comfortable Victorian private apartment (lower level duplex) is spacious and clean. It features a two-room suite; one queen bedroom with a connected twin bedroom (fabric curtain between rooms) - with a full bath and equipped kitchen. Convenient self-check-in. Off-street parking. Visit downtown MQT! Easy walking distance to Lake Superior, downtown bars, coffee, restaurants, NMU campus. There is some street noise and an outdoor music venue next door that the bedroom window is immediately next to The space Hit the ground running and don't waste any time visiting Marquette's beautiful downtown - simply step outside and you're in our village neighborhood! One block takes you to our favorite coffee/crepe shop (Contrast Coffee). Two blocks takes you to our favorite local brewery for fresh beer and live music (Blackrocks Brewery) or the best fish fry in town (Stuckos). Three blocks takes you to our local art collective gallery (Zero Degrees Gallery) and favorite outdoor equipment shop/trail guide recommendation experts (Downwind Sports). Four blocks takes you to our shopping district downtown (Revisions Studio, UP Supply Co., Tiaga Games, Boomerang and Getz's are some of our favorites!). Lake Superior and the beautiful Lower Harbor Park is only a mile's walk away! Don't forget to click through the map to check out our guidebook for more recommendations! Guest access Our home was built in 1883 and features many beautiful original details. We regularly rotate through our personal art collection to decorate the apartment. Guests have full private access to the entire apartment; entry is through the front, street-facing door. There is a large entry area that can be used for bike/gear storage to keep your recreational toys safe and off your parked vehicle. Apartment is located within a duplex property; upstairs tenant has private access only to the upstairs apartment. Apartment has comfortable living room space, full dining room, kitchen, bathroom, one queen bedroom and a connected twin bedroom. The bedrooms are connected with a fabric curtain between them for privacy (please consider this prior to booking if privacy between bedrooms is a major concern). Living room features large TV with Roku access to our Netflix account (no cable TV available). Fast wireless internet throughout the apartment. Off-street parking for two vehicles is included. The apartment is located on a main street in our downtown area, and because it is near an intersection, there is some street noise from passing/idling cars. There is also live music audible from the kombucha shop next door, some nights during the week until 10:30. There are four stairs required to get onto the porch, which goes directly to main-floor living. On-site laundry available for stays greater than one week. Self-check-in is preferred because we are often traveling throughout the UP (very easy instructions provided upon booking). Other things to note We will respect you and your privacy, and we ask in return that you respect our home. Because of the home's age there are couple of non-modern things to note - the living room doesn't have a ceiling light, and is instead lit by torch lights. We have added a touch-light right next to the entry (where a light switch would intuitively be), for quick light if coming home at dark. The bathroom does not have an outlet (super inconvenient, I know!) but there are multiple in both bedrooms with mirrors near them. As part of being right in the heart of downtown, the apartment is near an intersection, and you may hear traffic noise during the day. Additionally, there is a very cool Kombucha shop immediately next door that features live music many times a week. There will be music you may hear from this venue until 10:30 pm.
