Knights in Residence - Ocean Front Retreat

Fantastic beachfront spot with a stunning panoramic ocean view towards the famous Poor Knights Islands. Architectural designed newly built holiday home down a quiet lane surrounded by lush native bush. The space Down the end of a private lane, situated on a large sloping property right onto the beach. With only a few visible neighbours around, this property has such peace and quiet you can hear the birds singing all day long. The view is breathtaking, especially with the sun rising over the water directly in front of the house which you can watch from your bed! The architecturally-designed Retreat was only completed a couple of years ago and has all the luxury mod-cons and everything you need. A sealed driveway and carpark for 2-3 cars and/or boat trailer enables easy access to this single-level house. The Retreat has 1 bedroom with a King size bed (can be split into twin singles; please request), wardrobe, heatpump/air-con, and smart TV. The open-plan kitchen has all the usual appliances including fridge, oven, stovetop, dishwasher, toaster, kettle and Nespresso machine including complimentary tea, coffee, cereal/muesli, milk. In the lounge there are a few boardgames, smart TV (with Freeview, Netflix, Spotify, Chromecast), heatpump/air-con, dining table and chairs, reclining armchair, and convertible sofa/bed. There is one bathroom including shower, toilet, and washer-dryer. The house is surrounded with decking and plenty of outdoor furniture such as a full dining table & chairs, deckchairs, and a large 2-person daybed to soak up the sun. There is also a large grass area and Weber BBQ. NOTE: If considering to bring infants, you must discuss with us first about suitability and safety. You will have the entire Retreat only (1 King bed & 1 sofa bed). The Studio next door may be rented separately by other guests, but won't compromise the unique and private setting of the Retreat. Or if you would like to book it for extra space/guests please contact us. Guest access The Retreat has access to our unique outdoor hot-water bath with wooden screens for privacy... Gorgeous spot for those romantic nights with your partner (or maybe just some 'you time'). PLEASE NOTE this may not be available due to water restrictions during peak Summer season. Please enquire about availability before you arrive. There is a private path to the beach (be mindful that it requires good footwear). There is also a great public walkway available off the main road. The beach itself has a black sand/pebble shore with lots of great rocks to walk or snorkel around. Even though this is a public beach, it is never overly crowded. Plenty of tree shade and there's even a small freshwater waterfall! You will also have access to our bodyboard, snorkelling gear and beach towels. Other things to note Getting to the property will be tricky unless you have a car. The closest airport/bus stop is in Whangarei city which is about 45 minutes drive from the Airbnb. Unfortunately there is no public transport to the coast, but there is a shuttle service and of course a taxis that operate from the airport. Once you are at at the coast, there is a local shuttle service to take you anywhere around the Tutukaka Coast area for a small fee. This same shuttle service can be booked in advance for pick up/drop off from the airport at an extra charge (coastal commuter) Please note there is limited shopping once you are out on the coast so we highly recommend you do your main grocery shopping in Whangarei city. However, there are a couple of stores here which have the basics, and a selection of restaurants nearby so you won't go hungry!
