Description
Unwind high up on Chapmans Peak with the best views of Noordhoek beach surrounded by bees, flowers and finebos. Our cabin is cozy and sheltered in winter and summer and surrounded by nature. Its very close to Noordhoek beach but also the central attractions of Cape Town via the amazing. Noordhoek is a peaceful character rich place with great restaurants, farm shops, horses and lot and lots of beach and hiking trails. We have a cozy fireplace for winter and BBQ for summer. Free Parking and WIFI The space Our cottage gives you perfect privacy in nature while being well sheltered. The house has its own veranda facing the ocean. The main bedroom downstairs has a queen bed with french doors open to the Veranda. The kitchen is well equipped for general cooking with a fridge, microwave, oven, kettle and toaster. For winter we have a fireplace downstairs. The downstairs bathroom is en-suite with a shower. Upstairs there is another bedroom with a queen bed, a bedroom with two single beds and the second bathroom. The second bathroom has a sitting bath with a handshower, toilet and basin. You can see the ocean from all common areas and the two queen bedrooms. We have added a washing machine and a dishwasher, but the dishwasher can be temperamental so rather see it as a possible extra than as part of the place ;) There are two private parking spots right next to the house and just a few steps up to the entrance. The driveway is steep, but all cars have made it up without problems and up the top awaits paradise. The house does have an alarm system for your peace of mind and while it has its total privacy, there are neighbouring houses on the same plot. Please note: Our houses are best suited for the adventurous at heart. They are rustic escapes best suited for nature lovers who want an escape from the world and refresh their souls. They do come with their quirks, such as stairs or driveways to conquer, and sometimes something may not function as perfectly as it would in a newly built house in a security estate. We are very passionate about describing our listings accurately to correctly set expectations at the risk of appearing off-putting but we just believe that happy guests are the best guests :) So please read before booking: - we use lovely old furniture and doors and finishings but that means that a window or door or cupboard may not close as tightly or that a doorknob and or door may seem more wobbly than in a modern newly built house, or that the bed may squeak a little when you sit down hard on it - this is a third world country and there are certain outages that occur that we South Africa is currently implementing rolling blackouts called loadshedding. There is an app that announces the times of these blackouts in advance so that one can plan around them. We provide some rechargeable lights in the house and the stove is heated by gas so you can still cook -the house has a woodburning fireplace which if operated keeps the living room warm in winter, but the other rooms may seem on the colder side. - the driveway to the property is quite steep it may be best to walk it first but it can be mastered by all cars so far ( we haven't had a visitor with a Ferrari yet ) - the house is set in African nature and we have seen Cape grey buck, porcupines, owls, mongoose and a large variety of birds directly around the house. We love this but that also mean that the odd bug or animal may make its way into or onto the house but not out of it. Of course we will not tolerate any infestation inside of the house of anything but it may be possible that you find a millipede, ant, mouse etc on the odd occasion or that you hear a bird or squirrel running across the roof. As part of living in harmony with nature comes not to poison these unwanted tenants but rather trap them as for example many owls die of eating poisoned mice and then a cape caracal may eat the poisoned owl and die as well. - the house has a thatch roof, which we find super cozy and charming. But people with allergies may possibly have issues. It also means that sometimes for example if its windy some dust or small debris can fall down. we do allow pets at the property and we clean thoroughly after each stay but for example a very hairy cat may have left the odd hair or two, that escaped the cleaners so if you are highly allergic to pet hair, this may affect you We were hesitant to put up an age for kids because everyone brings up their kids so differently. Apart from the stairs it should be noted that the balcony is fenced in a way that the spacing is legal for kids, but if they really really try they can probably squeeze themselves through that, especially if very young and left unattended. It should also be noted that if kids or elderly people sleep in the upstairs room, that they will have to climb stairs to get there.(please refer to the pictures) Our house is not suited for people planning to invite people over for a BBQ or a party, we are more suited for nature escapes than an event venue. If any of the above concerns you then please check with us for more details or read our reviews :) Read the reviews - our house is fiercely loved by many of our guests as they give you a break from the shackles of suburban clinical life but please bring a bit of an adventure spirit with you :) If you like living in a sterile clean suburban house with high walls around and all luxuries that life has to offer then this may no be the right place for you Guest access Guests have access to the whole house. The place is private and peaceful but its not isolated and there are two neighbours close by (50m) on the same area of land Other things to note Please bring your own firewood if you would like to make a BBQ or a fire. Long term and winter guests please note: The house is heated by a fireplace. We include an average amount of electricity per month, but this will not allow for the use of electrical heaters. Houses in South Africa are not very well insulated. We deal with it by wearing an extra layer of clothes and keeping the fire going to have one warm space in the house. If you are used to central heating the house will feel cold in winter. We can provide additional heaters but the extra electricity cost will have to be born by the guest. We do not provide consumables in monthly bookings, cleanings can be booked at an additional fee
