Boat House on the Beach

The Boat House is located right on the beach (perfectly safe for kids) on the island of Valentia off the Southwest coast of Ireland. The big window in the sitting room overlooks the beach, Lighthouse, Beginish Island and beyond. It is the most wonderful place to be in good weather and the most fascinating in bad weather when you can watch big waves crashing onto the beach, the rugged shore and the rocks by the lighthouse - all while being cuddled up on the couch with a hot cup of tea! The space The Boat House is a 250 year old natural stone building. The interior is mainly natural timber and white walls. The floor downstairs and the working areas in the kitchen are covered with huge slabs of Valentia slate. The bathroom is split into two areas - a shower bathroom and a second part with a bath tub and an infrared sauna (good for warming up during winter after a dip in the sea). The Boat House is part of Glanleam Estate and all its amenities - see below. Guest access Glanleam Estate consists of 40 acres of sub-tropical gardens, heritage woodlands, open fields, a healing well and an ancient healing energy point, plenty sheep and lambs, donkeys, chickens, geese, a cat, three dogs, Connemara ponies, a fairy village and a pirate trek and a walk along the rugged coast out to the light house!
