One bedroom in the main building upstair where the host family is staying in ground floor. The bedroom is neat, clean, spacious and airy with attached toilet. The space The house is located in a 2acre property with rotational plantations like ginger, tapioca, yam, etc along with pepper and coffee in a village called Puthoor near the town of Meenangadi about 12 kilometers away from Kalpetta, the district head quarters. There are many places in Wayanad that can provide you a break from the maddening crowds and make you feel an oneness with the infinities of nature – its woods and animals. A ride in Wayanad will always help you encounter at least a wild elephant or deer, if not an Indian Gaur (Bison) or a tiger !! Climate The rainy seasons are the best time to visit Wayanad if you want to see the forests, hills and vegetation at their best. Imagine yourself warming up with a hot cup of brew, looking out at the rains and accompanying mists!! Alternatively the summer months of March-May are better suited for outdoor activities and wildlife safaris. Animal sightings tend to be better in summer owing to many animals migrating to the forests of Wayanad from other reserves, in search of better water resources and prey. Fauna and Flora Wayanad’s forests are rich in plant and animal diversity, and play a crucial role in the conservation of several rare species some of which include but not limited to the Lion tailed Macaque, the Royal Bengal Tiger and Elephants. People Even though Wayanad is the least populated district in Kerala, it has the highest tribal population. Some of the tribes still speak their own languages. The tribes are experts at extracting valuable forest resources, and their weapons, art forms and handicrafts are major attractions for tourists. Their ethnic food recipes, like dishes made from forest leaves, bamboo and paddy crabs, are some of the specialities here.
