Our wonderful home is located right on the waterfront reserve. Up close watch people wandering around the foreshore (including the jet boat marina, the long wharf and the iconic red shed). Gaze across the glistening lake to the spectacular mountains on the far shore. The house (built in 2016) is warm, bright and spacious! It is fully wheelchair accessible. The village shops are just a short stroll away. [Glenorchy is a 40-minute scenic drive from Queenstown]. Our house has several lovely features: * Woodburner and heat pump in lounge/kitchen * Separate snug TV room * A long, fat & sunny window seat that you can comfortably sleep on. * Two fully tiled showers * One single spa bath that you can restfully watch the far mountains in * Stunning views from virtually every window - all double-glazed * Oak wooden floorboards (please don't walk on with rough shoes or boots) Entire house is accessible, except: * Walk-in-wardrobe in master which is locked with personal items. * Storage closet in kitchen (your pantry cupboard is above the toaster). I won't be in Glenorchy, so you have the whole house to yourself. I am happy to answer questions about the house or the local area via email or text (or phone if not overseas). Our local contact is Ann Margaret Aitken (022 343 9368 or 03 441 2298). It is simply beautiful. Honestly Glenorchy is a special place overflowing with natural vistas. In terms of pace it is quiet and slow - so Glenorchy is a great place to unwind away from the buzz of Queenstown. There are heaps of recreational activities you can choose from (either free or commercial): fly fishing (guided), boating (boat ramp 100 metres away), jet boating (Dart River), horse riding (Dart Stables or High Country), "funyaking" (Dart River), kayaking (Rippled Earth), hiking (do the Routeburn Great Walk), walking (Lagoon Boardwalk), guided deer hunting, scenic flights (Heli Glenorchy), sky diving, visit Paradise or Kinloch, boutique shopping (Mrs Wooly's General Store), tour the Eco Village, two cafes & two pubs, and last of all cycling (trails being developed). There is not any public transportation in Glenorchy. You are best to drive your own vehicle as this will give you freedom to explore the district. A bonus if you drive a 4WD, but 2WD's are fine (which is all we have). There are some gravel roads in the district. But the road to/from Queenstown is fully sealed. Watch out for occasional black ice in winter. You will be best to bring/buy your own provisions. The local small stores are pricey, there are several supermarkets in Queenstown.
