An original 1869 building, full of soul, recently refurbished, a couple of minutes away from the Monastiraki station. A super double anatomic bed, a secret private terrace full of plants (neglected during winter), a marble-covered bathroom and a fully equipped functional kitchen at your disposal. The space Located within the ancient city walls, in the most vivid multi-culti neighborhood of Psirri, a few meters from the Monastiraki metro station, this 1869 building houses a cozy nest for the traveller. Actually, you can see ...the traces of 160 years on the walls. The place is ideal for couples, but can accommodate up to 5 people: two persons sleep in the bedroom, two more guests in the living room, on a double sofa bed and, if necessary, one extra person could honor the airbnb tradition, by sleeping on an airbed (but I wouldn't encourage this choice, since the clutter might ruin the overall experience). Now the highlights! A 2.10x1.65 bed for you, to rest your aching tourist body, in a room with a double-glazed window, and a refreshing fan on the ceiling. A fully equipped kitchen to experiment with the local tastes and a dining table. Romantic souls, hold your breath! From the "secret garden" I put together at the terrace, you can have a glimpse to the Acropolis, through the shade of the big trees. {LATEST UPDATE: the trees grew so big, that you cannot see the Acropolis because of the thick foliage. But I assure you, it is still there...}. You will live on the first floor of one of the oldest houses, within the ancient walls, in the historic center of Athens: The oldest documents show the house was built in 1869, though traces of an older building were found in the basement, during restoration. Not so strange, since this part of the city has been inhabited since the antiquity. The style of an era: The restoration that started in 2004, brought-up the neo-classical character of its original architecture. Neo-classicism was the main trend in central Europe during the 1800's, when Athens became the capital city of new-born Greece, and the rich Athenians adopted at once the style of their new "foreign" king Otto. Once the home of a wealthy Russian (the Czar's ambassador?), it was purchased by my grandfather, and ever since been the Family House. The place is gifted with charm and mystery, combining original, neoclassical elements with pop and funky touches and humorous notes. A very spacious living-room with a very special wooden floor and roof, a cozy bedroom equipped with a double bed, a marble-covered bathroom, a large kitchen and a hall is what the deal is about. Guest access You have access to the whole floor (80sq.m., with a large living room, bedroom, kitchen, bathroom & entrance hall), and to the terrace. Equipment you can use: Filter&espresso coffee machine, Fridge, Kitchenette, Mini blender, Washing machine, hairdyer, Stereo, flatTVwith HDMI &USB port, DVD player & DVDs, Books, airconditioning/ Ceiling fans/portable fans/stove, hammock/portable radio/cooler for the terrace. Also, detergents mops and hoover. Locked closets and drawers are for private use. thank you. Other things to note If you are allergic to cats, beware! The terrace is an area allowed for them to use. Also, small semi-transparent lizards might appear on the terrace. Do not harm them: they are considered sacred, plus, they eat mosquitoes, and small insects. You can consume anything edible in the house. For longer reservations (more than 7 days) a free-of-charge cleaning appointment has to be arranged. If you are traveling with a child that needs ABSOLUTE silence to fall asleep, have in mind that the neighborhood is somehow "vivid" and there is some noise from the people sitting at the nearby tavernas.
