Description

11 minutes walk to Waverley Station, 15 mins to the Airport bus stop, 9 mins to Holyrood Palace, 5 mins to the historic Royal Mile. A ground-floor midcentury Old Town hideaway, beside the King’s Holyrood Park, near everything 🏁 🧙 Centuries passed, ‘Dumbiedykes’ housed Holyrood’s brewers; today it’s toasted 1960s ‘utopia’ 🥂 And Dumbledore’s name in Scots. I’m on a quietish cul-de-sac. Warm, bright, pleasant, with a soaring Salisbury Crags view 💫 & a slight homage to the Boy Who Lived ⚯ ͛ The space 🛌 A luxurious King-sized bed, in the larger of my 2 guest rooms, well-suited for 2. 🍳 The kitchen seats 2 & boasts a microwave, a gas cooker, fridge & freezer space. 🥣 Unlimited coffee & tea, often fruit juice. Bread & jam or granola for breakfast. 🧗 The guest level is up 1 flight of stairs from the entrance & kitchen. 🛀 Shared bathroom with heated floor; on the same floor as the guest bedrooms. ☀️ It receives sun in the morning, so ACCIO curtains! 🕗 You may leave luggage downstairs from 08:00 am. ⏳ Due to work, the maisonette may not be fully cleaned till 16:10, but you are welcome to enter from 10 am. It's a simple, comfortable, central base to explore the city from ✨ Guest access Ground-floor maisonette with its own private entrance onto the street; however, the bedroom is up one internal flight of stairs. The kitchen & bathroom are shared with me & the other guest bedroom. 👆 Tap to enlarge the floor plan among the bedroom pictures — a less magical feature 😒 During your stay ⚡️ I'm a Harry Potter tour guide. I live below the guest bedrooms on the ground floor. I'm often available. I'll be around most afternoons & evenings, over winter mornings too. I can help as little or as much as you need 💁 🙋 On request, I can extend your door code & you can stow luggage in a downstairs cupboard. ⏱️ I am 11 minutes from Waverley Station's South entrance. Other things to note ⚠ I'm 11 minutes walk from Waverley Station South exit. I'm 30 mins Airlink bus + 15 mins walking = 45 minutes from the Airport. If you expect to arrive with me after midnight, I must not take bookings with wheeled luggage, only rucksacks. Wheel noise from guests striving to find me in the dark has disturbed my neighbours 😬 🚘 FREE on-street parking from Friday 17:30 to Monday 08:30 am. If you arrive during the day, Monday to Friday, I'll provide FREE on-street parking, but only from 11:30 am on your day of arrival. Thus, parking would be free from 11:30 am to 08:30 am the next weekday. ⦿ If you wish to enjoy Edinburgh beyond that (& it's not the weekend), NCP Holyrood car park is 1½ minute's walk or Dynamic Earth's car park is 6 minute's walk. But if you can park early, the best is an 11-minute walk to Holyrood Park car park @ £1 per hour… 🤯 ⦿ During the day, Pay & Display parking on my road costs £4.60 an hour for a maximum of 4 hours. You can use the machine on the road or the RingGo app 📲 ⚠ If renting a car to tour Scotland, central Edinburgh is car-unfriendly. You are better off renting when you leave Edinburgh & returning it before staying in Edinburgh. Edinburgh's core, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is well worth spending a whole day exploring; I'll happily stow your luggage. Then a couple of hours' evening driving would reduce accommodation cost & refresh the scene 🌅 🏁 National Car Rental, Alamo Rent a car & Enterprise Rent-a-car are 8 minutes walk from me at the end of Waverley Station. 🧽 Over winter, there are salt-block dehumidifiers beside the windows. However, on colder nights of November to April, this is insufficient & condensation may bead the windows. It's not wonderful & can lead to mould 🙈 If you are staying more than one night, I may enter the room while you're out to vacuum away condensation & switch you to clean towels. I may also empty your bin & vacuum the carpet. I seek to create a pleasant, healthy environment 🙇 🎗️ 5% of the money I make from hosting helps fund the construction of 493 social homes in the city.
