Description
Situated in a stunning secluded location with breathtaking views over the wild Cornish coast, Caradoc is a group of converted farm buildings built around a sheltered courtyard. Sleeps up to 12 in well equipped and very comfortable accommodation. Unfortunately we do not host parties or events. The space Caradoc is situated in a tiny hamlet looking out over two fields to the North Cornish coast. Surrounded by farmland and with spectacular views, Caradoc offers tranquillity, very comfortable accommodation and is just 5-7 minutes walk from a beautiful and often deserted tidal beach frequented mainly by local surfers. Caradoc has been converted from three stone barns built around a very private grassed courtyard . The main accommodation faces west towards the sea . The main house has four bedrooms, all with bathrooms next door. Downstairs is a spacious kitchen and dining area with a table that seats up to 12 and a small sitting area with three sofas. Upstairs is a very large sitting room with wonderful views and a ceiling open to the rafters. The bedrooms are good sized with beds that can be made up as singles or doubles. A separate cottage sleeps 4 in two bedrooms with a shared bathroom, a sitting room and kitchen. There is also a large studio room perfect for activities, art and yoga groups. Outside is courtyard with a table and chairs for 10 while in the garden to the west of the house is a barbecue and a garden house looking down the valley to the sea. There is plenty of parking. Please note that electricity is extra and is charged at cost based on the guests' actual usage. We can offer weekend or mid-week breaks at most times of the year other than the high season (summer holiday). Please contact Hugo for more details. Guest access Caradoc sits at the end of a no through lane which runs one km downhill from the Treligga road. From here guests can park immediately outside the houses and unload. To reach the cliffs and Tregardock beach it is a short walk out of the garden, through the paddock, over a little stream and onto the footpath which leads down to the beach. The main coastal path crosses this. Turn left towards Port Isaac or right towards Trebarwith and Tintagel. Port Isaac, Port Gaverne, Port Quinn, Trebarwith, Rock and Polzeath are all very easily accessible. Local shops and amenities are within 2 kilometres with the old market town of Wadebridge just 15km away. There are lots of other places of interest such as St Ives, Pencarrow House and the Lost Gardens of Heligan. Good local restaurants include Nathan Outlaw's and Rick Stein's ventures while fans of Doc Martin will recognise many of the series' locations. For the fans of Doc Martin this area is actually on his rounds with Port Wenn visible from Caradoc. Although if you have visit the surgery there is generally only a locum covering as he gets very busy indeed. Other things to note Tregardock is a wonderful tidal beach which is great for swimming, surfing and playing in rock pools as well as for fishing, mussel collecting and exploring. Guests with pets ( only dogs ) need to book in advance and should be aware the farm has many sheep, a few chickens and there will be other pets in the nearby vicinity so control will be expected. ***Caradoc has an electricity tariff: The meters are read on arrival and then again on the day of departure and the use is calculated and charged per unit as per our electricity provider's contract.
