The SAILOR house owes its name to a fantastic collection of little models, photos and paintings of sailing boats. The house hosts 6 people with: 3 queen size bedrooms, a large kitchen, a dining room, two living rooms and a studio. Each bedroom located on the second floor has a private bathroom, and the first floor has a communal small toilet. At the beginning of the 1980 the Barthel family moved into a farmhouse to enjoy the countryside around Florence city center. The compound has a big stone villa, a tree house and six cottages for rent. With its large courtyard surrounded by olive trees, it is a small community that includes grandmothers, mums, aunts and uncles. We all live here sharing the same love for the countryside, its olive oil, good food and the family lifestyle! We are only twenty minutes’ from the Florentine Duomo and one hour from Siena and the Chianti land. The Barthel family Other things to note HOUSE RULES Our home is a place to relax and enjoy the countryside away from the working rhythm. By providing the wifi connection only in the communal courtyard and porch we suggest our guests to utilize internet only when is really needed. Taking a break from been connected with elsewhere and to enjoy the here and now can be our best present to you! We ask our guest to respect the other inhabitants of our home. Protect their privacy, space and spirit. They have been asked to do the same to you. We also ask our guests to be environmentally responsible collecting recyclable material as paper, glass and aluminum, taking moderate showers, respecting plants and animals and saving power. We really appreciate when our guests inform us on their arrival time in advance in order to organize the best welcome for them. Please be aware that our home is very closed to the Florentine city center and the Galluzzo neighborhood. Driving a car or a taxi are recommended ways to reach them both. If you are brave you can walk to Galluzzo and take the bus to the city center. If you are very brave you can also come back up to the top of the hill where our home is located! WELCOME: • At your arrival you will find coffee, tea, sugar, milk, juice and our well water. And your first morning we will be glad to offer you Italian pasticcini for your first breakfast at CASAbarthel! • At your convenience, you are welcome to refill the water bottles at our fountain located under the communal porch (water costs 50 cents per liter). CHECK IN: • A few days before your arrival, please coordinate your check in time with us, via email. Depending on dates and time of the year, check in after 8 pm may have an extra cost. Please ask us prior your arrival. • On the check in day please call us one hour prior your arrival. To open the gate, use the key on the wall on the left hand side of the gate. • Take the garbage to the recycle beans located on top of our dirt road. We encourage our guests to be environmentally friendly collecting recyclable wastes as paper, tins, glass and plastic. Please put paper in a separate bag, while tins, glass and plastic can all go in the same bag. • Please leave the dishes, kitchen sink and stove cleaned. • Please leave the used towels in the towels bag. POOL AND TENNIS: • If you come with your kids please be aware that the pool is 1,20 meter deep. • You are welcome to use the mattresses and the pillows that are stored under the shed next to the pool. • In the changing room, you can find tennis rackets and balls please store them back when finished to play
