Single room in lovely quiet house
Single room in lovely quiet house
Description
The single room is south facing & overlooks the garden; the house is a lovely, light, attractive Victorian house in East Oxford, a vibrant area full of cafes, restaurants and bars and an easy (25 min) walk (10 min to the bottom of the High St. / Magdalen bridge) or (5 min) bus ride into the city centre. The space The house is a small Victorian terrace; it's my house and I'm the only other occupant. I usually work at home so prefer to have guests who have daytime plans that take them outside the house (N.B. this also potentially applies to weekends - any queries please flag it up in your booking enquiry). This doesn't mean you can't come and go as you please - I just want to discourage guests who are looking for a room to study or work in all day. The vibe is very quiet, and friendly but independent :-) Guest access Apart from the room, there's a shared bathroom - this is easy to negotiate as my schedule is flexible so there are no 'morning clashes' :-) Guests reading this before booking should note that the shower space is cramped for taller people as the ceiling slopes. A recent guest estimated that it might be a challenge for those over 1m 80cm, which I'm happy to acknowledge. The bed is a standard single, 90cm wide and 190cm long. I'm offering limited use of the washing machine for longer term guests, by arrangement. Please note there's NO use of the kitchen and no communal living room on offer - the accommodation is essentially the room as far as that's concerned. There is a desk in the room, however, and it's a south facing room overlooking the garden so it's a very light, cosy place to sit with a reliable, speedy wireless broadband connection. During your stay I've lived in Oxford for a long time and am more than happy to help guests with local knowledge, recommendations for places to walk, pubs and restaurants etc. As it says above, the atmosphere is very friendly but I generally I leave guests to themselves and prefer to be independent and do my own thing. Guests won't ever be troubled with friends of mine coming round, or noise - I prefer to socialise out of the house while the room is occupied and am very quiet when at home. Other things to note Re: check-in: please note that I've stated that the check-in time is 'flexible' as none of the other options on the website for hosts exactly reflect my hours. It's true that in general I am very flexible but there will be times I can't do and I really appreciate guests sticking to a pre-arranged time (or contact me re any delays / changes of plan) just as they would for any other appointment. The latest check-in is 10pm without prior arrangement. Re parking: please send me a message if you require parking.
