Our recently restored Little White House is in a 700-year old neighborhood called Kuzguncuk. It comfortably fits five with capacity to accommodate up to seven guests. It is centrally located on a quiet street a few blocks from the Bosphorus. Enjoy a gourmet kitchen, terrace and easy access to a major transportation hub on the Asian side of İstanbul in Üsküdar. The space This recently restored 4-story wood and brick house is in a historic Istanbul neighborhood named Kuzguncuk surrounded by municipal parks and protected land overlooking the Bosphorus connecting the Black Sea to the Marmara Sea and stretching between Europe and Asia. The top-floor master bedroom has a bathroom with a shower. It also has a terrace. The first floor has a living/entertainment room with comfortable seating which converts into a double bed. Adjacent to it is a bedroom with a bunk-bed and features a small balcony. There is a bathroom with a shower on this floor as well. The entrance floor has the chef's kitchen and a dining room opening up to a small balcony plus a separate WC. The basement has a small room for one adjacent to a fully-appointed bathroom with a shower and a bathtub. The basement has laundry facilities and a small WC. The back entrance to the house is in the basement. The entrance and first floor have high wooden ceilings. The total floor space of the house is over 140 sq. meters. The house is less than 500 meters from the Bosphorus shore. There are over 20 cafes and restaurants in the neighborhood. On Wednesdays, there is a farmers market which features fresh vegetables and fruits. Grocery stores, butchers as well as a full set of small neighborhood services such as tailors, barbers, art studios and galleries, a boutique chocolate store and others adorn the main street of Kuzguncuk called İcadiye Caddesi. Kuzguncuk hosts churches, synagogues and mosques reflecting the multi-faith profile of the Ottoman society. There is a substantial expatriate community in Kuzguncuk, some own property here. The neighborhood health clinic is a short walking distance to the house. There are three pharmacies on İcadiye street. Kuzguncuk is a very established neighborhood where we raised our daughter who felt very safe growing up supported by friendly neighbors. The property owners and the residents are fully aware of the significance of the historical architecture, the green spaces and the mixed social fabric of the neighborhood which they mobilize to protect whenever there is a threat. The guests who stay in the house and care to mix with the residents will experience a lifestyle and a mode of existence not frequently seen elsewhere in metropolitan İstanbul, nor in many other World City. Kuzguncuk is in close proximity to main transportation routes that connect the Asian side of İstanbul to the European side. The "First Bridge" (Atatürk Bridge) is up the hill from Kuzguncuk. A few hundred meters from the house on the coastal road is the municipal bus or the mini-bus to Üsküdar where you can catch the Marmaray metro line to the European side of İstanbul. From there the subway ride is 4 mins to the next stop in Sirkeci which is on the historic peninsula where Hagia Sophia and other most well-known touristic places are located. Also in Üsküdar is a number of passenger ferry lines to the historic peninsula (Eminönü and Sirkeci), Karaköy (Galata district) up the Golden Horn to Eyüp, and to Kabataş and Beşiktaş, the two transportation hubs facing Üsküdar on the other side of the Bosphorus which takes 4 mins to cross. From Kabataş you can take the funicular up the hill to Taksim square where you can start your stroll down İstiklal street in Beyoğlu (Pera) - one of the most popular pedestrian streets in Istanbul. A very scenic ride is by the municipal passenger ferry that crisscrosses the Bosphorus up to the Black Sea and back. Morning and evening commuters take the one that stops at the Kuzguncuk ferry station on weekdays. Private car travel is not recommended due to heavy daytime traffic on the streets of İstanbul. For those guests who prefer to travel by taxi, there is a Kuzguncuk taxi stand operated by drivers who are Kuzguncuk residents themselves. They'll be happy to take you anywhere at any time of the day. They are a phone call away. As of this writing, a taxi ride to İstanbul's new airport on the European side (İstanbul Airport) is about US$30. The one on the Asian side (Sabiha Gökçen Airport) is less.
