The space is a private apartment above a cafe called Kamenos, situated on a hillside in Hiji, just northeast of the famous hot spring town of Beppu, facing east and offering spectacular sunset views of the mountains and bay. Peaceful and serene, it is steps away from a bamboo forest with multiple walking paths. We offer a sense of freedom and calmness where you can truly feel the presence of nature. The space ABOUT THE SPACE The apartment has an entryway, a nicely sized room ideal for watching films (projector included), a tatami living room with a table (space for 6 to eat), a separate tatami room with space for three sleeping mats, a bedroom with two beds (with luxury mattresses and comforters), two bathrooms (one with a toilet and sink, one with a double sink/mirror, washing machine, shower, and cast-iron bathtub), a kitchen (with fridge, freezer, toaster oven, and two gas burners), and a terrace. All rooms except the bedrooms and bathrooms offer exceptional views of the bay, Beppu, and Oita city. FOOD AND DRINK There are wonderful restaurants within 5-10 minutes by car, offering local specialties such as toriten (lightly fried chicken), seki-saba and seki-aji (mackerel), champion noodles, and Bungo beef. There are also izakayas, sushi restaurants, and ramen shops, among many other options. Local grocery stores offer fresh, high-quality fish, meat, and vegetables. The kitchen has all of the necessary utensils for cooking and eating. For those interested in regional beverages, Hiji has excellent shops for discovering shochu and nihonshu (sake). We are happy to recommend any good restaurant or hoping as well. please feel free to ask us! One breakfast is included in the booking, Guest access Guests are welcome to spend the night, just notify the hosts. An extra fee will be charged. Other things to note Check-in can be done at the cafe. A key will be given to you for the duration of your stay. 　If you need the apartment cleaned during your stay, please don’t hesitate to contact us. Please note that children are charged the same rate as adults. When making a reservation, kindly include them in the adult headcount. We, at Kamenos, offer a place for you to relax, recharge, and feel the origin of Japan in a more traditional sense- experiencing the countryside far from the noise of city life. The building is a former artist’s atelier that we converted and renovated by hand- every detail has been meticulously cared for. We hope you feel the love we put into creating it.
