The Val Lumnezia is one of the sunniest valleys in Switzerland. Here you can experience all seasons at any time of the year - even in winter the sun often is so intense that you can enjoy the view in a T-shirt on the balcony! You will experience a diverse nature and culture in a touristically interesting yet quiet valley and enjoy a very familiar, particularly cozy holiday home. The space A wonderfully cosy family holiday flat with everything you could possibly need. From kitchen equipment to a rucksack, plenty of books, a large balcony, a cosy fireplace, numerous board games and garden toys, right through to a sewing kit – everything is provided. Inside the house, you’ll find all the necessary information about the accommodation, as well as plenty of information and walking maps for excursions in the surrounding area. From the balcony, you’ll enjoy a wonderful view across the whole valley, which is one of the sunniest in the whole of Switzerland. The house still retains its original 1970s charm, but was extensively renovated in 2026; the kitchen and bathroom, in particular, were completely refurbished. This means nothing stands in the way of a holiday that’s both rustic and comfortable. The abundance of wood and the homely décor, with great attention to detail, make the flat particularly cosy, so much so that it’s often referred to as a ‘mouse trap’: once you’ve been there, you’ll be back. There is a double bedroom (the beds can be pushed together or kept apart, and there’s space for a cot next to them), a single bedroom and another room where the bed can be pulled out to fill the room; at 160 cm wide, it can also accommodate two people. The sofas in the living room provide three further sleeping places. This is also a great place to holiday with children: a cot, high chair, child carrier (Osprey Poco Plus) and children’s toys are provided; the garden is perfect for hours of carefree, creative play; and it’s just a few minutes’ walk to the nearest barn with cows or sheep. Guest access The surrounding meadows enchant with their variety of flowers, the village shops Morissen and Vella can be reached in 12 or 20 minutes on foot and the bathing lake is a 35-minute walk or 5-minute drive away. A 15-minute walk away is the popular Ustria Larisch restaurant, which serves the finest organic regional food. The surrounding area invites you to numerous excursions and activities in every season. From skiing, cross-country skiing, winter hiking and tobogganing in winter, to swimming, hiking, mountaineering, barbecues, whitewater rafting, chair lifts, swimming in the nearby Davos Munts bathing lake with beach volleyball court and barbecue areas, to a museum and public open-air swimming pool in Ilanz, everything is there. The valley can also be conquered by e-bike and free charging stations distributed throughout the valley ensure that the battery does not let you down. More information about the area is available here: surselva.info and davosmunts.ch The public bus to the ski lift in winter leaves from the front door and takes you to the ski lift in Vella, just 2km away. From around December to April, use of the Postbus (public transport) in the valley is free. In summer, the guest card gives you free access to numerous attractions such as the Rufali leisure park (Obersaxen), the public open-air swinning pool (Ilanz), the chairlifts, museums and much more. Exact information at surselva.info Morissen can be reached by car from Germany without crossing a pass. But it is also easy to take the train to Ilanz and from there take the post bus - usually to the front door (otherwise you have to walk 800m). On site you can easily get around with the Postbus. In addition, in summer there is a free hiking bus on individual routes and the mountain chairlifts, which also take you quickly and comfortably to the summit. Other things to note Parking for one car is available at the house; further parking spaces are available at 200m next to the road or in Morissen (400m away; subject to a charge at night). A comprehensive folder in the house contains tips and house rules, as well as information about the local area, day trips and activities. The house is equipped with numerous walking maps, books and board games, children’s toys, a high chair, a paddling pool, etc. A child carrier (Osprey Poco Plus), an e-bike and two mountain bikes can be hired on request (for a small fee). Cross-country and downhill skis (various sizes from 80 to 180 cm), sledge and snowshoes are also available to hire.
