Description
Our house is a beautiful, historic terraced cottage in a small village just outside of Penzance. The area is a conservation area. There are many original features. The house is directly opposite an eleventh century church providing a beautiful, restful view. We have two bedrooms available, a victorian style bathroom, a large living room with wood burning stove, a kitchen with original slate tiling and a conservatory style extension. The house is suitable for two couples, or a small family. The space There are two bedrooms available for guests, the main bedroom is on the first floor and has double bay windows overlooking the churchyard. The second bedroom is in the attic, it has a dormer window and also overlooks the churchyard. The main bedroom has a double bed, and the attic room has a double and a single bed. The bathroom is very beautiful with a roll top bath, there is an overhead shower and shower curtain so it is possible to both shower, or have a bath depending upon your preference. The bathroom has doors opening onto a small conservatory type room which overlooks the churchyard, so in the summer you can lie in the bath and look at the trees opposite. We have a table and chairs there so you can also have your morning coffee or afternoon tea there. This leads onto a balcony, we are currently renovating this and do not recommend you go out on it as the rail is very low. If you do it is at your own risk. Downstairs there is an entrance hall, a large living room to the left with two bay windows and a wood burner. This leads onto the kitchen which has a beautiful original slate floor and Delft tiles behind the cooker. There is a table in the kitchen. Leading off the kitchen is a small extension leading onto the courtyard garden and up the a further stretch of garden leading onto Church road. There is a back gate here and if you turn right you will find the village pub! The conservatory like extension has a table and chairs, a small settee and two chairs. It is lovely to sit here in the summer evening and watch the light fade. The house is suitable for families, we do accept babies and young children, we have a cot, but small children would need supervision as the house has lots of nooks and crannies. Guest access There is parking in the road, but it is not advisable to park directly outside of the house as this makes it very narrow for cars to get by. You can park outside the house next door but one, there is usually a space there, this is next to the yellow cottage facing the road into the village from Penzance. You can also park in a car park next to the church and village school. This is free and safe, we park there if there is no space in the road. There are lovely walks from the house, just down the road is Trengwainton Gardens. This is a National Trust property, the gardens are stunning and well worth a visit. There is a tea room and gift shop, and there is also plenty of space to sit and have a picnic, or just admire and enjoy the views. You can also walk from the house across the fields into Penzance. This takes twenty minutes approximately depending on how fast you walk. Turn right out of the house and walk down the hill past Trengwainton Gardens. You will come to a footpath on your left, follow this and then keep heading left. There is a regular bus service into Penzance, and nearby villages Newlyn and Mousehole. From Penzance it is easy to get the bus to other areas of West Cornwall. There is also a train station here from which you can travel to London direct. There is also a very nice train ride from St Erth into St Ives. Get the train from Penzance to St Erth, you can drive and there is parking there. The train then goes along the coast past Carbis Bay to St Ives. Much easier than driving to St Ives and trying to park.
