Villa Maggona: oceanfront, pool, full staff & chef

Villa Maggona is a four-bedroomed private beachfront villa with pool, full staff and private chef. It is located between Colombo and Galle near the beach resort of Bentota. Architect designed and beautifully decorated throughout, it is a perfect venue for holidays with friends or family. The villa has direct access on to a picture postcard, empty, palm-fringed, sandy beach, which although not recommended for swimming, is perfect for sunbathing, walking and paddling in the surf. The space With four beautifully furnished double en-suite A/C bedrooms (one of which can be configured as a twin), Villa Maggona comfortably sleeps eight with the option for an additional three guests on temporary beds (extra charge). The master bedroom benefits from a spacious private sitting area. There is WiFi throughout, meaning you can catch up on your emails or send pictures back home to friends. The open air living spaces are bright and airy thanks to giant windows that open out onto the luscious green garden and to the ocean beyond. The pool runs the whole length of the deep shady verandah which is arranged to create multiple spaces for sitting, lounging and/or dining. There is also an inside/outside dining room and spacious sitting room with books and games for you to enjoy. Maggona comes with a full staff, including a chef, who will look after you during your stay and cook you fabulous meals to order. All dining is charged simply and transparently at the cost of the groceries plus a 20 % handling charge. Meals are served in the dining pavilion or at the poolside. On clear evenings, we can set up a barbecue in the garden. The house speciality is seafood – be sure not to miss the crab curry – you’ll never want to leave! This gorgeous retreat is hidden in the ‘Golden Triangle’ of Sri Lanka. Nearby is the picturesque Bentota beach and lagoon. Down the coast is the UNESCO heritage Galle Fort that is most certainly worth a day trip thanks to its preserved colonial architecture, fortified ramparts. great boutiques and proximity to stunning beaches at Unawatuna and Thalpe. Other recommended daytrip locations include the lowland white tea plantations, some beautiful waterfalls, Yala National Park where you can spot leopards, Udawalawe National Park to see wild elephants and Mirissa where you can go whale watching. We can schedule massages and yoga sessions on request. Transport can also be arranged at an additional cost. Guest access This listing is for the whole villa - you have exclusive access to the villa, grounds and pool. The only areas that are out of bounds are the staff quarters. Other things to note Whilst the beach is beautiful - sandy, clean and generally empty - the ocean on this stretch of coast is unpredictable and as such we do not recommend that guests swim/venture out of their depth but instead enjoy the beauty of the beach by walking the sands, paddling in the surf or simply relaxing and catching some rays. Extra guests - the optimum number of guests is eight - two per room. we can however accommodate an additional three guests on temporary beds which can be placed in any of the bedrooms ( we do not allow beds in the sitting or dining rooms) . There is an extra charge for any guests above eight so please make sure you have declared the correct number of guests when you book.
