A 200 year-old stone caretaker's cottage on the grounds of a 13th century abbey. 15 minutes from Gangi, one of the most beautiful villages in all of Italy. A two hour drive from Palermo. 2 large rooms, furnished with antiques. The kitchen is new and quite good. On the property of the best restaurant in Sicily -- the inn at Gangivecchio (or you can cook on your own). Very romantic. And remarkably quiet. The space The space is perfect for two people. It is lovely and usable space inside and out -- the patio is comfortable and sunny. Fireplaces dominate the bedroom and living room. Very romantic. Guest access Guests have the run of the cottage. Other things to note Giovanna Tornabene -- who owns the abbey and inn -- has written 3 cookbooks. See those books to get a bigger understanding of just how amazing this place is. If you're looking for quiet...all one hears at night is the tinkling of the bells tied around the necks of the goats wandering the mountains. PLUS: Gangivecchio is THE best restaurant in Sicily. Although you can cook in the cottage, you will want to eat their food as often as possible. It's very reasonably priced and absolutely spectacular.
