The space Private twin room for rent in a charming village house lovingly restored using as many of the original features and fittings as possible giving the house a traditional rustic feel. There are 4 floors with four bedrooms. The bedrooms are private but you will share three bathrooms, two terraces with great views, barbecue, fully-equipped kitchen, communal sitting area and utility room. The under floor heating and hot water is supplied by solar panels (with gas back up) taking advantage of the fantastic local climate. There is free wifi in the house. The house is situated in the village of Monachil surrounded by the mountains of Sierra Nevada while only 8km from the centre of Granada and the Alhambra. There are regular buses into the village from Granada. During the week bus no.183 goes every hour from Paseo de los Basilios. To drive to the village you take the Ronda Sur of the Granada ringroad towards Sierra Nevada and then take the 2nd turn off signed to Monachil and then follow the same road all the way to Monachil, el casco antiguo, the last village before Sierra Nevada Natural Park (contact us for more detailed instructions). The traditional Andalucian mountain village of Monachil has the best of both worlds with Sierra Nevada rising on three sides and the beautiful city of Granada only 8 km away down the valley which means mountain activities in spectacular scenery, a buzzing nightlife, history and culture. Hiking, paragliding, mountain biking, rock climbing, horseriding and skiing/snowboarding will be on offer from your base in the village while art, crafts, live music, theatre, flamenco, tapas and several restaurants will fill your evenings. While relaxing on a terrace on a sunny afternoon in Monachil you will catch a glimpse of an ancient way of life that is still maintained; men with mules on the way to tend the land or the local shepherd with his flock passing by; the elders of the village pass the day chatting on benches and groups of children play tag in the streets. The main village fiesta of San Anton is in January where you can partake in the Hoya de San Anton (a free community meal) and test the local vino mosto (young wine) at the Annual Local Wine competition.
