The guesthouse with the holiday lofts Ostera and Westera is located on the rural Sonnenhügel estate in the Kariner Land. The former stable building combines historic character with contemporary design and a clear, warm aesthetic. This is a place created to convey calm and quality, shaped by carefully chosen materials and thoughtful details. The atmosphere is understated and harmonious, offering space for slowing down and enjoying special moments. The space Ostera is designed as an open-plan space across two levels, combining clear architecture with a warm and inviting atmosphere. On the ground floor, the kitchen, dining and bathroom areas flow seamlessly into one another. Upstairs, the sleeping area with its fireplace offers a calm retreat – a place to read, unwind and truly arrive. On the Ostera terrace, the gentle sound of water from the garden pond accompanies the day. Moments unfold naturally here, when time and space quietly fade into the background. The Sonnenhügel also offers shared spaces dedicated to movement and relaxation. The Atelier bathroom with infrared sauna as well as the yoga studio are accessible to all guests. Set within the expansive garden, there are numerous places to sit, rest and linger, alongside fruit trees, vegetable beds and quiet paths. The Sonnenhügel is a place where nature, thoughtful design and tranquillity come together – offering generous space for personal pauses and memorable moments. Guest access The Sonnenhügel extends across approximately 10,000 square metres, offering space, openness and the freedom to follow your own rhythm. Guests can enjoy complete privacy here – or choose to connect, for example during a shared barbecue evening in the Grillcota. Neu Karin lies away from the tourist routes, surrounded by calm countryside. This setting creates special moments: the feeling of chosen solitude, the song of nightingales at dusk and the soft croaking of frogs in the evening hours. Other things to note When you arrive at the Sonnenhügel, everything should feel easy. This is a place to arrive, breathe out and leave everyday life behind. Wide views across the landscape and a remarkable night sky create a natural sense of calm and distance from routine. The Sonnenhügel is deliberately quiet and set apart, far from busy tourist routes. At the same time, the Baltic Sea is easily reached: Kühlungsborn is about 16 km away, the Salzhaff around 10 km, and Rerik approximately 15 km. The Hanseatic cities of Wismar and Rostock are each about 35 km away. Shops and supermarkets can be found in nearby Neubukow and Kröpelin, both around 8 km from the property. Fresh towels and bed linen are provided for your stay. The kitchen is fully equipped and thoughtfully prepared with essentials such as coffee, tea, oils and basic seasonings, so you can enjoy cooking together without having to bring everything with you. The surrounding area offers open fields, lakes and the nearby Entenmoor nature reserve, inviting you to slow walks and quiet exploration. When travelling to us, please make sure your navigation leads you to the village of Neu Karin, as the same address also exists in the town of Neubukow. Bicycles can be stored safely and dry in our barn. Alternatively, we are happy to recommend a bicycle rental service that delivers and collects bikes directly at the Sonnenhügel. There are intentionally no televisions in our apartments – Wi-Fi is, of course, available.
