Xmas/New Year available. Artistic, cozy house on mountain foothills in scenic Catskills, Bearsville, 8 mins from Woodstock, music, art, restaurants. All season retreat. Ski, 20 mins to Belleayre. Abundance of wildlife, hiking, national parks, cuisine, music. Wilson Park, Ashokan, Overlook. Dog friendly, all amenities, excellent WIFI, Netflix/stereo, wood stove inside/fire pit. Enjoy sunlight, trees through large picture window. Two comfortable bedrooms + office/den with sleeper. Town permit. The space Formerly a historical art colony of homes and retreat called Flatrocks, Elephant Cottage, a single family house, was built 75 years ago and has been remodeled while preserving the natural charm and wood features. Sleeps 4-5 people comfortably and has a spacious den to relax, read a book set up for a remote office. A 1000 square foot, single family home on a half-acre lot, features two separate bedrooms upstairs, a den and bathroom is downstairs. The second bedroom can be converted into a double/two singles. There is a split unit air conditioning and heating system, patio to enjoy a BBQ, fully equipped kitchen, strong WI-FI, and the bathroom is functional and clean. Light pours in through multiple windows and the Morse fireplace keeps you warm and snug in the cooler months. There is an abundance of wildlife to include rabbits, woodpeckers and an extensive variety of birds around the property. The elephants and wildlife art give a nice vibe which adds to the spirit of the home and conservation education. This is the perfect retreat setting for a couple, family, outdoors enthusiast, writer, musician, artist, who is looking for privacy, yet not total seclusion in a community of homes. It is popular for a family getaway due to its location (only 10 mins from Woodstock) and access to many activities that are available in the area such as skiing (Belleayre and Hunter Ski Centers 30 mins away), hiking, kayaking. Scenic Cooper Lake is just down the road. I have a Smart TV, stereo sound system (blue tooth) with access to Netflix, Pandora and other APs. I do not have cable TV but if you want it for your stay, please let me know. There is a Weber grill next to the Patio and a washer/dryer in the house. The cottage features original elephant artwork created by the owner, with percentage sales proceeds donated to various charities to help preserve the endangered African elephants, empower women and girls, underserved youth. The cottage enjoys contributions from other guests' children adding to the creative spirit of the home and heritage. Guest access Guests can access through the front red door to the left of the driveway, under the porch, next to the wood holder and there is also a separate entrance connecting the patio to the den. The front lawn is ideal for a game of croquet, should you feel inclined. Other things to note A dog owner myself, I welcome well behaved, trained small-to-medium size dogs. We require the removal of shoes when entering the house, especially during winter months, to maintain a nice, mud free living environment and to protect the 80+ year old newly preserved pine floors. Absolutely no smoking inside the house or large parties. There is a short lane leading from Wittenberg Road to the driveway access to the house. The driveway can accommodate no more than two vehicles. Dogs must be kept on leashes at all times, please make sure they do not roam on neighbors property or driveway, and pick up after them. Please keep track of the weather especially during the winter months, a 4by4 is recommended as the house is located on the mountain foothills.
