Special: Charming Craftsman house and detached studio with private yard, beautiful landscaping, outdoor dining, and hot tub. A short walk to cafes, groceries, breweries, and wine tasting venues. A mile from downtown, near the river path, & 10 mins drive to U of O. Note: No cleaning fee The space PLEASE: Please contact us (by clicking the "Contact host" link below) to inquire about availability before you choose "Request to Book." We are making both our house and studio available as a package for special events in Eugene. Thanks very much. ============================== Our house and studio are on a charming residential street in Eugene's historic neighborhood, the Whiteaker. We also rent the studio separately under Whiteaker Studio under the Arbor. The complex is completely enclosed on all sides with total privacy. Getting around by bike: We are a short, easy bike ride to downtown, the U of O and Hayward Field, as well as to Autzen Stadium, most of it on the bike path, but all of it flat. If you are hoping to ride bikes, let us know and we can connect you with some local bike rental spots. Eugene also has a city bike share program with a station a block away, and 40 other stations around town. About the place: A 1907 Craftsman, the house was remodeled in 2006 to add new decks, two patios, a second bathroom, both a gas and wood stove and other comfortable amenities. Located on quiet 5th Avenue, but just a block from the Whit’s commercial district at Blair Blvd, we enjoy the best of urban life while retaining privacy and quiet. The backyard features a deck and patio with outdoor seating and dining areas, a courtyard next to the studio, and a hot tub in the back with an outdoor shower. Barbeque on the deck, then dine outdoors surrounded by espaliered fruit trees, roses, and a profusion of greenery and color. An 8-ft. fence provides complete privacy while soaking in the hot tub or enjoying the outdoor shower. Sleeping arrangements: The house has two bedrooms: one with new king bed, and one with a daybed that we convert to a queen when guests prefer. A semi-private study has a narrow twin (30" wide). The living room has a pullout couch for which we provide a memory foam. The studio is a freestanding structure in the backyard with a king bed, bathroom and small kitchenette area. Combined, the house and studio can accommodate from five (very comfortably) to up to 8 or 9, if you include the pullout couch and the narrow-twin-size daybed in the study (good for kids). We also provide a fold-up, single futon that can be set up somewhere, perhaps in the sun porch, if needed. About our neighborhood, the "Whit": The Whiteaker, long famous as an artistic and free-spirited enclave, is home to many beloved Eugene institutions such as Sam Bond’s Garage (music venue and pub), Sweet Life Patisserie, Fisherman’s Market, New Day Bakery, and Red Barn organic grocery. Recently, it’s attracted attention as a fast-growing commercial district and magnet for hip, new eateries including Izakaya Meiji (mostly Japanese but mainly focusing on small plates of various types), Tiger Mama (upscale Korean), Nelson's in the Whit (boutique Mexican), Slice (pizza), Tacovore (gourmet tacos), and many other new locales. Eugene's "fermentation district" is also here, anchored by breweries Ninkasi and Oakshire, as well as the Territorial Winery and Eugene Wine Cellars. These have been joined by additional wine tasting venues and distilleries, all within easy walking distance. If you stay in the Whit, you’ll be charmed and entertained – and you may not need to get into a car during your entire visit. The area is very walk and bike friendly – in fact, 5th Ave is a biking route. Straight down 5th a mile east is the Market District, which includes the charming 5th St. Public Market with the famed Marche and Provisions, as well as additional eateries and various popular shops. We are about five minutes drive to downtown and 10 minutes from the U of O on Eugene’s eastern flank, each also easily accessible via bike. In addition, Eugene’s extensive river-bike path is just six blocks away. Be aware, however, that urban neighborhoods can get noisy, and you might bump into an unusual character or two. While the house is isolated from the daily foot and street traffic on commercial Blair Blvd., we are close to a public park which can also get busy with activities during the summer months. Guest access As our guests, you will have access to everything except a small storage shed and the house attic.
