Old Gaol 'Double Bed Cell' (no ensuite)

Experience staying in an Old Gaol Cell. Our Double Bed Cell Room includes: one double bed, all linen, pillows, blankets and towels provided, a small hand basin, a mirror and is fitted with an electric blanket and a wall heater for the winter days. All cells have access to shared bathrooms facilities, lounges and kitchens. All kitchens are fully equipped with utensils, stove, oven & microwave. Complimentary WIFI available. The space The Old Mount Gambier Gaol was a functioning 'English Prison' from 1866 to 1994. We have converted ex-prison cells into dorm rooms, twin rooms and doubles. For the squeamish at heart we do also provide rooms which were not used as cells, but were instead the warden’s offices. All of our bathroom and kitchen facilities are communal except in the family room. We do offer some cells with en-suite toilets. Double rooms contain a double bed, twins contain one set of single bunk beds. The family room contains two bedrooms (a double and a twin), a private lounge area, bathroom and kitchenette. Please note all guests are required to arrive and check in before 9pm at night. Check out is at 10am. We are located about five minutes walk from Mount Gambier's main street. Here you will find an array of restaurants, cafes and shops. The famous Blue Lake is a ten minute walk from the gaol, the Cave Gardens are about seven minutes away. Guest access Both sides of the gaol have their own communal lounge area and kitchen. Bathrooms and toilets are spread out throughout the venue. Guests receive complimentary wifi and self-guided tour maps of our historic facility.
