Description
This is the Homestead Cabin, nearly 100 years old! • 1-room cabin with a queen bed and bunkbed • Private bathroom including sink, shower, and hot water. • 1 hr 15 min drive from Grand Teton NP • 2 hrs 15 min from Yellowstone NP The space This cabin was an original homestead cabin on the ranch and is one of 4 cabins at Granite Creek Ranch. Granite Creek is a 5th generation cattle ranch in the scenic mountains of Eastern Idaho. Originally homesteaded in the early 1900's, Granite Creek now consists of thousands of acres. Natural springs feed each of our cabins and ranch house by gravity flow. Very comfortable with an overhang porch and two hammocks right outside the cabin. There is a shared small deck area with benches and lawn chairs. The Homestead cabin sits near a creek and close to our horse corral. There is an electric heater; some nights can become a little chilly even when warm during the day. Also a small fridge to keep beverages or food items cold during your stay. Private bathroom with hot water shower. Guest access Guests have access to the property where they can enjoy hiking, mountain biking, canoeing and free fishing on our 5 acre Granite Lake. We provide life-jackets that must be worn while on the water. We offer guided horseback trailrides at $45/person for the first hour. • Children must be 7 years or older to ride the horses. • Hand-led rides can be given for ages 2 to 7 for $30/half hour/person. • Rides are available Monday through Saturday. • Trailrides are not available Sundays. • Payment can be cash or card. • Please let us know in advance of your arrival if you are interested! • Closed-toe shoes and long pants must be worn. Waivers are located in the welcome binder inside the cabin and must be signed prior to these activities. We offer guests a simple self-serve breakfast in our ranch kitchenette, which is shared by guests from all four of the cabins. • Food options include bagels, muffins, cereals, breakfast sandwiches, milk, juice, yogurt, coffee, and tea. • A small refrigerator is available in each cabin so guests can store some items for the duration of their stay. • Space in the fridges in the kitchenette to store food as well. • We have picnic tables, an outdoor fireplace, and a grill for guests to use. • Hot dog roasting sticks are provided. List of amenities guests have access to: • Hiking and biking on ranch roads and trails • Trail rides-must be scheduled • Free canoeing and fishing on the lake (fishing poles are NOT provided, it is catch and release with barbless hooks only)Worms, spinners and small lures work well, but they can be hard to catch when it is hot. Fishing is best in the morning or early evenings. • Large outdoor fireplace area with benches • Outdoor grill and griddle • Picnic area with tables and chairs • Shared kitchenette with fridges, microwave, toaster oven, hot plates and coffee pot Other things to note The cabins are close to the corrals and barn, so at times we may have cattle in the corrals. We also have quite a few horses that hang around the corrals and the barn area during the day. You may pet the horses while on the other side of gates and fences, but please do not go inside the corral with them. They can kick or bite without notice. The nearest grocery store is the Swan Valley General Store, located 8 miles east of the ranch. There is room in our kitchenette fridges to keep some food items. There are also 2 restaurants in Swan Valley. We have some basic cooking utensils for food preparation in the kitchenette: pots and pans, cutting boards, cutlery, and grill utensils. Verizon cellular phone service works the best in our location, other carriers usually have reception back on Hwy 26. We do not have laundry services. D&L Laundromat is a coin-operated laundromat 32 miles west of the ranch in a town called Rigby. We have a NO PET POLICY. We usually have a ranch dog or two who love attention, but please do not allow them in your cabin or the kitchenette.
