Large King bed and a snug room with ensuite. Please note the ensuite is also snug and in our opinion due to its size it’s not suitable if you’re over 6ft. Ashbys is all about providing the best guest experience for a staycation trip. We are a mix between a hotel and serviced accommodation and all our spaces are geared up for offering facilities that guests value. Super fast wifi connectivity for those who may want a change of scenery whilst working away. Extra facilities like hot tub and sauna that can be booked exclusively. We encourage people to ask questions about their stay and trip and are always happy to help with any questions to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. Forget what you think you know about the navy – a maritime masterclass waits for you in Pompey. One of the UK’s oldest seaside destinations (and the country’s only island city), Portsmouth was once the world’s greatest naval port. So, unsurprisingly, the big draw here is the nautical history. The city’s armada lies at the Portsmouth Historic Dockyard – HMS Victory (1759-1765), HMS Warrior (1860) and the Mary Rose (Henry VIII’s lost warship, recovered from the ocean bed in 1982). But this is a forward-thinking, modern city, too. Head up the sail-shaped Spinnaker Tower for jaw-dropping views of The Solent and the Isle of Wight before strolling to chic designer outlet Gunwharf Quays. It’s worthy of the most discerning of shoppers – and when your bags get too heavy to lug around, nip into one of the buzzy restaurants. A mile further south is Southsea with its kitsch amusement arcades and a vast pebbly beach. And away from the seafront, Albert Road is home to independent boutiques, quirky cocktail bars and art galleries. It really is a city that has it all
