The studio cottage is located in an east Portland neighborhood bordering the city of Gresham. It is close to public transport (near a MAX light rail station), the airport and outdoor activities (the Columbia Gorge; Mt Hood) and is a 20-30 min drive to downtown. It's cozy (eclectic vintage style), a wooded 1-acre setting within the city limits, and has secure premises (electric gate). Our place is good for couples, solo adventurers, and business travelers. We designed the cottage with a vintage style, having salvaged some of Jon's family farmhouse which was demolished for development. So you will see many elements from that house in our cottage in order to preserve his family's memories. The cottage itself was where Jon's grandmother lived (the Victorian bed was hers). We've had this property since we were married in 1979, lived in the cottage and then built our home behind it a few years later. You are welcome to wander around our nearly one acre yard and mini forest. There's a path that goes around the perimeter. You are welcome to sit in our adult treehouse for reading/meditation. We are available throughout your stay unless we happen to be out of town (which can happen since we have grandchildren to visit). You are welcome to visit us in our home or if you need anything, we are just a short walk up the driveway. We love meeting our guests but we also want to respect your privacy. We leave it up to you to initiate. We are 20 minutes from the airport and on the eastern edge of the Portland city limits. We are about a half hour drive from Multnomah Falls and the Gorge and 10 miles from downtown Portland. Our one-acre property is in a developed neighborhood so it is not rural. But it has over 40 fir trees, many 150’ tall, and lots of other plantings that people say feels like an oasis. We are about a block from the light rail station that takes you directly into downtown Portland as well as to transit centers for lines to the airport and other areas of around Portland. No tobacco smoking allowed in the cottage but allowed outdoors as long as smoke does not enter the cottage. No cannabis smoking allowed on the property or in the cottage.
