The Bothy

Welcome to The Bothy! We are located in sunny Ayrshire amongst open skies and rolling hills that descend down into the beautiful Clyde Estuary. See more on insta @StoopidFlat_Farm The Bothy is an old converted barn on this once-working farm. We have made a cosy and stylish space for guests and friends alike to come and relax in and escape from the 21st centuary. If you love exploring the great outdoors then returning home to a welcoming wood burning stove then this is the place for you. The space The Bothy is located near the house we live in but feels very separate with its own garden area and views out toward the sea. We can accommodate 2 adults +/- 2 children. Even though we feel very rural we are only a 30 minute drive from Glasgow and 15 minutes from Glasgow Airport. We are no longer a working farm but we do have an active vegetable garden and try and grow food all year around, and have friendly and hard working chickens, two pet sheep, two very friendly and inquisitive cats and a very excitable border collie pup. In the surrounding fields there are sheep and cows depending on the time of year. We are trying to follow a permaculture ethos and moving toward off-grid with our own solar panels and water supply. We very much believe in minimising our impact and working with nature as much as possible and you will see this around the 'farm' area which you are welcome to explore. The Bothy has its own kitchen and bathroom facilities and we can supply a laundry service for a small fee if needed. It has a double bed elevated on a mezzanine, and a double sofa bed. It has excellent Wi-Fi so the moderns world can still feel very accessible. We are always around and can be as sociable or as distant as you wish. We supply a welcome box with goodies and essentials. Food from the garden is optional, depending on availability, for a donation. As this is our home we would ask for respect of this - ie please no raves until 2 in the morning! Well behaved dogs are very welcome (baring in mind the sheep and cows!) We have many suggestions for exploring our local area, from day trips to Arran and the islands of the Clyde, to exploring further North to Loch Lomond and beyond. Staying locally there amazing beeches, walks, endless cycle paths to explore and lochs to swim in. Glasgow is a stones through away, with Edinburgh 50 minutes beyond. Happy to give advice and recommendations. Other things to note Dogs and other pets are very welcome but please check with me first if you are wishing to bring your pet - we have other animals around and small children so please take this into consideration when coming with your pet. Banned breeds are not allowed.
