You get a bunk in one of our dorms. All of our dorms are co-ed, the beds are comfy and come with everything you need to crash after a day of checking out the coolest city in America. You also have use of all the amenities of Hostel Detroit. The space Hostel Detroit is an educational non-profit that believes that experiential travel is the best way to learn and experience the City of Detroit. It is a social space. Expect to make friends! We are located in a bright and vibrant 100 year old building in a neighborhood that is full of urban farms and innovative projects. We are a 20 minute walk to downtown Detroit. Guest access Guests will have private access to their room. They will have full access to all other features of the hostel. This includes kitchen space, shared bathrooms, outdoor space, common areas, laundry and more. If you plan to check in after 9pm, arrangements must be made. Other things to note FAQ: Where can I park my car? Parking is free on the street (your car will be fine as long as you don't leave valuables in eyesight) Is the North Corktown neighborhood safe? Yes, the North Corktown neighborhood is safe – there are many wonderful neighbors who look out for each other and will be looking out for you! Be mindful, talk with neighbors about their opinions and ideas on Detroit, and ask them for their stories. They're very outgoing, friendly, resourceful, interesting people! How much is a taxi ride from the Greyhound Station / Rosa Parks Transit Center? It should cost no more than $8 to catch a cab to the hostel from either place – take Michigan west, Rosa Parks north, west on Spruce. How much is a taxi ride from the Amtrak Station? It should cost no more than $15 to catch a cab – take Woodward south, west on MLK, south on Trumbull, and west on Spruce. Is Greater Detroit safe? Yes, it's safe if you're smart – like all major cities. Be aware of your surroundings, be careful with your money, and be respectful of strangers. Look people in the eye and say hello! Is Detroit safe to walk around / bike around? Yes. When biking, bike on the street, use hand signals, wear a helmet. We'll even rent you a bike for $20 a day. When walking, stick to populated, well lighted areas at night. Trust your instincts! What's the security system for Hostel Detroit? The front door is locked at all times. To enter the building, you must have a code that you receive via email after submitting payment for your reserved bed / room. Why Detroit? Why not?
