Description

The Nest is a recently converted peaceful, luxurious and romantic barn conversion, suitable for 2 (plus 1) guests. Superb local pub with Italian restaurant just a three minute walk away! Exclusive use of private hot tub. Private garden and bbq area. Set in 12 acres of a grade 2 listed former rectory dating back to 1798. The unique gardens and grounds provide peaceful, colourful, interesting and ever changing setting. Please search YouTube ‘GC gardens’ to appreciate the location. The space As you arrive you pull into the large forecourt outside the main residence, you park in the shadows of the beautiful grade I listed church of st Augustine’s. The accommodation is through the passageway to left of main house and its on your left hand side . There is a large private porch over the entrance doorway with lots of room for dirty footwear, this accesses the brand new well equipped kitchen with cafe gousto machine, dishwasher, microwave, oven and Hob. Stairs leading off the kitchen lead you to the open plan living area, where the walls and original beams are sensitively decorated with farrow and Balls ‘Elephants breath’ giving a clean and tranquil feel to the room. Within the open plan living area is a plush king size chenille sleigh bed, freestanding bath, double sofa bed and shower room. There is an en suite shower room with large walk in shower. A small mini bar and extra cafe gousto capsules with honesty box are available to guests. Complimentary tea, coffee, sugar. The flat has its own hot water and heating system and wifi super fast broadband is available. You, as guests in ‘The Nest’ will have exclusive use of your own hot tub, it’s in an extremely private location, adjacent to the walled garden with exclusive use throughout your stay until 10pm daily. Guests will also benefit from their own private mini garden to bbq and relax in. There is sun loungers and garden furniture for your private use. A traditional charcoal kettle barbecue is provided for your use, also charcoal is available to purchase during your stay. There is a well lit path which makes this accessible on darker evenings. It is a short walk to the hot tub so we advise you to bring dressing gown and flip flop type foot wear. We are set in our own grounds of 12 acres and actively encourage guests to explore the grounds, paths and ponds. We do however have livestock in the form of sheep, goats, horses and chickens, please do not stray into their fields and please close any gates that you come across. Do not feed the animals This accommodation is really suited to two guests but as we have the double sofa bed as a back up option for two more guests. We also have an old Victorian tennis court that is now a children’s play area and has a lovely natural viewing area for parents to sit and supervise with a cup of tea or wine! Secure parking for bikes can be arranged. Being a former rectory we are nestled against the historic church of st. Augustines, the church is opened daily and is well worth a look. Location- West monkton is a quiet, rural village about a miles walk from the closest bus stop, if you are travelling without a car you will probably need a taxi from Taunton or to be aware of the walk to the bus stop. We are situated on the edge of the Quantock's just three miles from the county town of Taunton, with its great variety of shops and restaurants. The Brewhouse theatre puts on a wide variety of performances throughout the year. Vivary park is within the town centre with high ropes course and 18 hole golf course. Taunton has a regular farmers market on a Thursday. There are three friendly local pubs within easy walking distance New italian restaurant 'Il Basilico' (formally The Monkton Inn) is just 300 yards from the end of the drive, the Merry Monk and the Maypole inn are situated about a mile away and easily walkable. We are situated at the foot of the Quantock hills and is the perfect location for keen dog walkers, walkers, bikers or horse riders to take advantage of the area. Samuel Taylor Coleridge's cottage in Nether Stowey is only a stones throw away over the hill. The West Somerset coast is not to be missed hosting the legendary west Somerset steam railway, a 22 mile heritage railway line from Bishops Lydeard to Minehead, the medieval village of Dunster with its castle, yarn market and quirky shops and tea rooms. A wonderful day out for all young and old. The beauty of Exmoor with it rugged coastline are not to be missed and most accessible. We are close to the famous Somerset levels renowned for its rich wildlife and has the largest lowland population of breeding wading birds, great for any ornithologist or amateurs alike with many walkways and hides. Spring and summer is a particularly wonderful time to visit with the famous starling murmurations easily accessible and many guided tours taking place. We have two listings on site and it is also a family home, there is plenty of room to loose yourself and the mini Garden and hot tub for residents in the nest are extremely private. We are signed up to the ‘commit to clean’ protocol on Airbnb. I take the cleanliness of my listing very seriously. I deep clean and sanitise all hard surfaces and frequently touched items before arrivals. Linen and towels are all washed on a high temperature setting. I provide hand sanitiser, disinfectant and cleaning products for guests to use throughout their stay. Guest access The access to accommodation is uneven due to the age of the property, it is well lit but is a cobbled courtyard. Guests are welcome to walk around the grounds and the walled garden, any produce from the walled garden is forbidden to be picked or consumed. We do ask guests to respect the back lawn area and patio around the back of the house as this is a private residence but all other lawn areas and grounds are open to guests. Hot tub is available for use until 10pm daily and take 3 adults, not advised for children under 12 and pregnant ladies. No glasses to be taken to hot tub, plastic glasses provided in apartment. Other things to note We do not provide towels for use in hot tub area. We ask that the hot tub is not used after 10pm. We recommend bringing flip flops and dressing gowns or similar footwear for getting to and from the hot tub as it is a short walk around the house and down a well lit path. For summer months we have a charcoal BBQ available to use in designated BBQ area along with sun chairs etc, charcoal available with honesty pot. There is one other listing on site, it’s the side wing of the main house. The entrances to both accommodations are within the same courtyard, however both listings are very private. The nest has its own mini lawn, bbq area with garden seating, and hot tub, the main grounds are shared with the other guests but are very large and it’s unusual to meet anyone else. Search YouTube “GC gardens” to view video of the grounds. Small mini bar and extra Nescafe Doulce coffee capsules will be available to guests with honesty box We have livestock on the premises in the form of sheep, goats, ponies and chickens therefore it’s very important to keep all gates closed and respect the electric fence signs. Please do not feed any of the animals. Being a former rectory we are located next to the parish church, the church clock strikes hourly and can be heard from the accommodation. The church has bell ringing practise on a Thursday evening for 2 hours, the bells will also be rung for special occasions such as weddings etc and the fourth Sunday of each month for the family service, this can be heard clearly from the accommodation but adds to the charm. Laundry, washing and ironing service available upon request
