Highlands Lodge is a magnificent stone and timber chalet nestled amongst 150 year old deciduous English Elm and many other European Trees. It is beautiful year round but particularly in Autumn. Located at Black Mountain (approx. half way between Sydney and Brisbane) in the heart of the beautiful New England Region, it is only 25 minutes north of Armidale and 10 minutes south of Guyra. Set on a working Sheep and Cattle property, Highlands Lodge is the perfect place to relax and unwind. The space At an altitude of 1400 metres Highlands Lodge sits right on top of the Great Dividing Range. Imagine yourself sitting around the cozy log fire, curling up with a book, cooking a hearty feast on the Rayburn Slow Combustion Stove or a cooking up a storm on the enormous BBQ on the stone verandah. All whilst looking out onto the fabulous New England. There is nothing other for you to do but listen to the sounds of nature while enjoying the glorious Tablelands. During the winter months we offer a unique Truffle Experience at the on-site Highlands Truffiere. We offer guided hunts with expert dogs and handlers. We are proud to say we were featured on the programme “Taste of Australia” with the renowned chef Hayden Quinn, who along with his team, stayed at Highlands Lodge and cooked up a truffle feast! Whether you're sitting by the fireplace, dining under the stars, or enjoying the tranquil surrounds, Highlands Lodge encapsulates the ideal getaway or stopover when visiting family, friends or colleagues The Lodge boasts all the modern amenities, coffee machine, full size fridge with freezer, dishwasher, convection oven/microwave and gas cooktop. There is a little bit of yesteryear with a slow combustion stove that cooks your meals to perfection! There is a front loading washing machine and dryer. There are 2 bedrooms downstairs both with comfortable queen size beds. Upstairs in the loft there are 2 futons that can be used as double beds, one queen size bed and a single bed. There are also some mattresses that can be used for additional guests. The versatility of the configuration enables holiday makers, families and those coming to Armidale in working groups to find the perfect accommodation. Highlands Lodge is located midway between Brisbane and Sydney on the New England Highway and is the logical geographical stopover. The chalet has reverse cycle air conditioning along with heaters for each of the bedrooms. The enclosed log fire is easy to light and keeps the chalet very warm in winter. Household basics are provided as well as quality toiletries. Please note, Highlands Lodge is intended to be enjoyed only by those who have booked and is not a party destination. Guest access Guests have access to the entire chalet, but to keep the costs down we need to charge for each bedroom/ bed used. Interaction with guests We are contactable by phone or email but will stay away to let you enjoy your stay in peace. Other things to note This is a perfect place for families but please note there is a large pond/small dam near the Lodge that will require parents to always have their children under full supervision. All dishes washed dried and stowed. 6. Pets are not allowed 7. The number of guests must not exceed that stated in booking requests Price for 2 guests is $195 per night, however, a $45 fee will be charged per extra person per night.
