Description
Welcome to Stone City Treehouse! Stone City is a quiet retreat in the Vermont woods where time slows, and nature leads. Thoughtfully crafted spaces—treehouse & glamping stays, forest sauna, and gathering circles—invite deep rest, reconnection, and simple beauty. Come be held by fire, trees, and stillness, and leave feeling grounded, inspired, and gently restored. The space Winter at Stone City is quiet and magical. Snow blankets the woods, the stream softens beneath ice, and the sauna becomes a deeply grounding ritual after snowshoeing or winter hikes. Our guests are rewarded with a peaceful, cozy retreat far from the rush of daily life. After a day of hiking, skiing, or exploring local breweries and distilleries, return to your private tiny house in the trees — or skip the agenda entirely and spend the day reading by the fire, listening to the stream below. A short walk through the woods and up the stairs brings you into a space that feels worlds away. The treehouse was built with intention, using local, natural, and recycled materials, including large reclaimed windows from a local schoolhouse that frame the forest like living art. Inside, you’ll find: • A warm, thoughtfully designed living space • Large windows overlooking the woods and stream • A lofted sleeping area (“The Nest”) with a cozy bed and forest sounds at night Step onto the deck overlooking the year-round stream (sometimes frozen in winter) and let the water, trees, and birdsong set the rhythm of your stay. Outdoor Spaces & Sauna Just below the treehouse, you’ll find: • A streamside fire pit • Sitting area and hammock • A hanging bed beneath the treehouse for long, lazy rests You may spot wildlife if you’re still — chipmunks, owls, loons, and other forest neighbors. 🔥 Wood-fired sauna Guests are welcome to reserve the beautiful wood-fired sauna during their stay (no additional cost; advance reservation required). Instructions are provided after booking. Cooking & Comforts This is a simple, rustic stay with thoughtful conveniences: • Propane camp stove with griddle • Charcoal grill • Mini-fridge with freezer • Toaster oven • Basic cooking essentials (olive oil, salt, pepper) • Coffee, hot chocolate, and lemonade A primitive water system is available at the treehouse for dishwashing, and fresh drinking water is provided (with easy refill access at the house). We prioritize sustainability and use environmentally friendly products, solar power, composting, recycling, and minimal disposables throughout the property. Bathroom Setup (Important to Read) • Composting toilet inside the treehouse • Full modern bathroom (toilet, sink, shower, washer/dryer) located at the main house, ~200 feet away Sleeping Arrangements When it’s time to rest, climb the ladder to the lofted sleeping area (“The Nest”) and settle into a comfortable full-sized bed. In warmer months, open the windows and fall asleep to the sounds of the stream and forest. Guest access You have exclusive access to the entire treehouse and surrounding outdoor spaces. • Treehouse is ~200 feet from the driveway and main house • Very private, tucked into the woods • Garden cart/sled provided for carrying belongings • Early arrivals may leave belongings on the house porch if the space isn’t ready Other things to note (Please Read Carefully) 📍 Location & Driving Conditions Stone City Treehouse is located on a rural dirt/gravel road in Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom. Winter snow and spring mud are common. • 4WD with higher clearance and snow tires is strongly recommended in winter and mud season • Drive slowly and plan ahead • We do our best to maintain the driveway, but rural conditions vary 📶 Wi-Fi Wi-Fi is very limited at the treehouse. Reliable Wi-Fi is available at the main house. A landline phone is available inside the treehouse. 🐾 Nature & Wildlife This is a true forest stay. You will encounter insects (including spiders), and wildlife is part of the experience. Guests should be comfortable being immersed in nature. If you’re seeking solitude, connection, and a meaningful pause in the woods, Stone City Treehouse offers a rare and grounding Vermont escape.
