The Shearer's Quarters - Te Akatea Station

Relax and enjoy a true kiwi experience at our lovingly restored Shearer’s Quarters. Te Akatea Station is a family farm nestled amongst the rolling hills and lush green landscape of the Waikato. This self-contained property offers the perfect blend of historic preservation and modern convenience and comforts. Beyond the immediate garden are grassy paddocks, home to our cattle and sheep. Sit back and relax with a cuppa/cold beer as you soak in the views from the deck. The space The shearer’s quarters is a self-contained property with a well-equipped kitchen and spacious lounge and dining area. The deck offers comfy seating and a BBQ to enjoy the surroundings. There is a generous sized bathroom which features three showers and a washing machine. The quarters are perfect for all, from couples seeking a romantic getaway to families and groups looking to escape the hustle and bustle of daily life. Whether you want to curl up with a book and soak in the views from the deck or nestle up in front of the crackling fire – there is something for everyone. The property features 1 queen bedroom and 1 single bedroom with direct access to the kitchen and lounge areas, this makes up the main area of the property. There is also a third bedroom (with single and queen bed) and fourth bedroom (with a double bunk and single bed) which are accessed via the deck amd made available for larger groups. In total the property can sleep up to 10 people. There is an enclosed parking area with space for 2 vehicles adjacent to the property. Additional parking space is available nearby but is not enclosed. Mobile coverage can be unreliable on the farm and surrounding areas. Complimentary wifi is available at the property. Basic breakfast items (tea, coffee, milk, cereal etc.) will also be provided. Guest access The entire shearer's quarters and garden is yours to enjoy. Other things to note The quarters has an enclosed garden so you won't be disturbed by any of the farm animals that may be roaming around in the surrounding paddocks (Cattle, sheep, horses, dogs, etc.) Our friendly house dogs may pop over to say hello. You will also see and hear many native bird species such as kereru, tui and fantail during your stay.
