The Dartmoor Den is a charming, newly converted annex that offers self catering accommodation in the quiet hamlet of Grenofen. Downstairs is open plan with a fully equipped new kitchen and cosy living/dining area, cloakroom/toilet and private garden. Upstairs there is a double bedroom with views across Dartmoor and an en-suite bathroom/wet room. The space The Dartmoor Den is a perfect location for walking the moors and exploring Devon. Ideal for couples looking to relax and embrace the beauty of the area. Just a short stroll along the Drakes trail cycle path next door takes you into the market town of Tavistock, voted in the top ten in the UK. (It is a one minute drive or there is a bus stop nearby). Tavistock is a thriving, beautifully friendly market town that is worthy of any visitor. An ancient stannary town and home of the cream tea, Tavistock is the only town in Devon to hold world heritage status. The vibrancy and uniqueness of Tavistock is undeniable with a range of beautiful local independent shops which are a far cry from today's typical high street. Not to be overlooked is the famous pannier market or the award-winning farmers’ market. It is truly a shoppers paradise. There are guided walks from and around the town, wild swimming in the rivers, a golf course, tennis courts, museum, gym, swimming pool and arts centre. (National Cycle Route 27, Drakes Trail and the West Devon Way to Plymouth are all easily accessible directly from the property). Dartmoor is a National Park often described as the last wilderness in Southern Britain. The moor reaches heights of more than 2000ft (600m) and provides a perfect environment in which to relax walking, riding, mountain biking, climbing, kayaking and canoeing. The Western Moor is magical and fantastic for walking, cycling and riding. Several National Trust properties are in easy reach: Lydford Gorge, Buckland Abbey, Saltram House and Cotehele are all nearby. For those looking for a more restful time there are wonderful drives taking in the stunning views of the moors and tors. Trips to the South Devon coast are easy with Plymouth just 20 minutes drive away and the glorious sandy beaches of the South Hams area. We welcome dogs and children (new high quality sofa bed which ideally sleeps 2 children or one adult at an additional cost of £10 per person per night if required for additional occupants and your dog is welcome too). We have dog bowls etc and a dog/bike shower outside to make muddy walks easy to manage. The holiday home provides comfortable accommodation with owners next door who are available to meet any additional needs eg; restaurant recommendations, local information and even a lift home from one of the local pubs if required! There is private off road parking, an enclosed garden, garden furniture and a BBQ for when the sun shines. Situated in a rural spot, tucked away in a cul de sac which is next to Drakes Trail behind the A386, which does generate some road noise. Please contact us if you need any further information.
