Both rustic and elegant, the Birch Ledge Guest House offers a cozy place to relax and recharge, whatever the season. The first floor features a spacious living room (with queen sized pull-out-couch), dining area, and small kitchen. The bathroom has a walk-in shower. The second floor is a loft accessible by a spiral staircase and has a comfy queen and two twin sized beds. The guesthouse is surrounded by quiet forest and is an easy 30 minute drive to Portland. The space Sari and Saul Lindauer, both retired science teachers, live on the property in a separate home, and have been building and improving upon this guest house for the past 19 years. The Lindauers welcome guests to Birch Ledge as a way to share the beauty of their homestead with others. Guest access Feel free to explore the wooded trails on our property. When there is snow, there are snowshoes available to borrow. There's nothing like fresh eggs for breakfast...feel free to say hello to our chickens in our free range coop, and pick up some eggs. In the warmer months, you are welcome to pick your own fresh herbs from our garden. If you have a car to carry them, you can also borrow our two canoes or kayaks and visit one of the many nearby rivers or lakes. There is also a working pizza oven available in the summer. If you are looking for a more relaxed stay, pull a chair out onto the lawn or enjoy one of the two private decks attached to the guest house. Other things to note We provide you with a coffee maker and tea kettle as well as ground coffee and tea. In the fridge you'll find eggs, bread, milk, orange juice, butter and homemade jam. There is wifi and cell service. The first floor is wheelchair accessible! **Please let us know ahead of time if you plan on using the pull-out bed on the first floor---we'll make sure it is made for you before you arrive!**
