Whananaki Barn - Cottage 1

Whananaki Barn is on 15 acres of lifestyle block overlooking the sea. It is totally OFF GRID so if you love peace and tranquillity this is the place for you! It has great views of both the native bush and the beach. You’ll love my place because of the beauty, the outdoor space, the sunrise and sunsets and it is off-grid!. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, families (with kids), big groups, and pets. We have three cabins available. Check our other listings to invite your friends! The space If you are looking for a genuine "Kiwi Camping Experience", then come stay at Whananaki Barn! We are located 3 minutes from beautiful Rockell Bay on 15 acres of beautiful farmland! In addition to rolling pastures, we have a small Olive orchard with approximately 35 trees. We have fresh rainwater stored in our tank and a large composting toilet. Bring your torch and candles as we do not have any electricity (so you can really experience the NZ outdoors!) There are a total of 3 x Cabins available. (The others are listed separately.) There may be other guests staying in one of the other cabins at the same time so common courtesy and respect are required. There is plenty of room outdoors for extra guests who would prefer to sleep in a tent as well! We have a large barn (Whananaki Barn) on the property. This is where we live when at the property. It is not available as part of the cabin use, but we always love to visit with guests when we are at the property! We have a great compositing toilet for you to use. It is next to the barn. We have a solar shower that is really warm on hot sunny days! No good at night or when it has been raining. You will be clean but a bit cold! It is near the barn and you are free to use this. All the water is collected from rainwater on the Barn's roof! It is perfect and clean to drink. There is a water tap near the barn and solar shower. Other things to note Please be aware that the gravel driveway is quite steep. With so much rain during the winter, the driveway can get a bit torn up at times. Most cars are fine. However, some vehicles that are front wheel drive may struggle at times. Not suitable for towing caravans or boats without a 4-wheel drive. The grass paddock in front of the cabins gets quite soft during the winter months. Your vehicle may get stuck! We would prefer during this period if you park on the main driveway and walk a short distance to the cabins. Please contact us to discuss if required.
