I welcome you to my house, in the heart of the Cevennes National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site, in the hamlet of La Fare, 650 m above sea level. 6 km away, you will find all the services of the village of Saint-Germain-de-Calberte. Florence Arnaud The space I have a room to offer you that overlooks directly on a terrace where you can settle in with roses, clematites, camelia, laurel-rose... You can use the fully equipped outdoor kitchen with dishes available. A short hiking trail passes directly through my home, and will allow you to discover the wildlife, traditional architecture in shale country, the history of the country and its people... I can share my experience with you because, a training geologist, I set up an organization to bring knowledge of the Cevennes to everyone and a website to share this knowledge (discovery-evennes). I could also share with you my passion, author photography, which I practice and show my regular works of. You can also discover the dry stone walls, the small square gardens, the vegetable garden, flowers, plants and fruit trees combined according to the principles of permaculture. In short, if you want to have an authentic holiday and discover the deep Cevennes, I welcome you! Guest access Guests have a private room with a double bed with a private entrance that opens directly onto a small terrace with a table and two chairs. The bedroom, exposed to the rising sun, is naturally cool in summer and very warm and insulated in the cool seasons (central heating). Guests have access to a fully equipped outdoor kitchen (gas stove, oven, microwave, dishes) and a shared bathroom. In case of bad weather, it is possible to have lunch inside. During your stay I am usually present and available to inform you about the Cévennes, local knowledge (geology, history, geography, etc.), hiking trails, sites to discover, but also about dry stone wall techniques or the creation of gardens Other things to note VERY IMPORTANT - It's very easy to get lost in our valleys... GPS is to be avoided. On the other hand, I will send you a map to follow carefully from the village of Saint-Germain-de-Calberte, with itinerary advice depending on where you are coming from.
