You will love our place for its prime location of MonumentValley (10 minute drive to the park) and being hosted by a local native family eager to share our culture and highlights of things to see n do in Monument Valley. Our hogan has a power outlet for lighting, charging devices, or to enjoy a cup of coffee/tea. Wifi is available, but not guaranteed-therefore not charged. We serve a small, free continental breakfast. Dinner is available upon request, please add to comments when reserving. Our hogan stay is like camping. It is not for everyone. This structure has NO running water, NO showers, NO AC. A luxury convenience is the electrical outlet for lighting, oscillating fan, & charging gadgets. The partial earthen floor is natural to the structure. The beds are comfortably made with sheets and blankets. Clean towels are provided with a wash bin. A water igloo holds community treated water for drinking and washing. BBQ GRILL/FIREPIT: A GAS BBQ grill is available for cooking outdoors. A firepit is provided for your evening enjoyment. Do bring your own firewood (we may have some for sale). BREAKFAST: Join us in our outdoor kitchen for a free, complimentary breakfast. During extreme or winter weather, we will serve you at your door. RESTROOM: An outdoor portable restroom is facilitated with motion-censored light about 15 feet from the hogan. CHECK OUT: turn off any lights, & close the door. The road to the Hogan is a dirt, graded road. Car Sedans can make the drive as well as SUV's. Heavy motorbikes, like Harleys are NOT recommended. The road is soft in areas and very challenging. Look up: MOTHER EARTH ROAD to locate us off highway163 in Arizona. Milepost 416. CHECK IN: Self check-in is encouraged. We welcome guests to unload before heading out to adventure the park. The door will be unlocked with the keys inside. We will stop by in the early evening to greet you and cover breakfast details. We welcome you to 'self check-in' upon arriving. We may not be immediately available, but we will stop by in the early evening to greet you & introduce you to the Hogan, its amenities, & provide an overview of the homestead. In warmer weather, we will invite guests to join us at the outdoor kitchen for breakfast. I like to take that time to present an overview of Navajoland, culture, food, & people. Question session is most welcome at this time. Let me know upon your reservation, that you'd like an evening presentation. Possibly due to early departure. The Monuments will be your front yard, a prime location for sunrise! We are only ten minutes from the park; a great location for sunset. Guests are welcomed to walk the homestead as long as you are in view of it. You will be on private, Navajoland. Therefore extended hiking is prohibited 🚫. You will need a guide to accompany you on such excursions. General Services are within 6-8 miles: Monument Valley Park Visitor Center & Valley drive; The View restaurant/hotel. The Gouldings Lodge/Stagecoach Restaurant, Gas Station/Deli, and Grocery Store have ATMs and a Laundromat. There is a Post Office in Gouldings, a Good Sam Campground with public showers. A Welcome Center, Medical & Dental Clinics are at Intersection of Hwy 163/MV Park & Gouldings. 2 miles from our location. NO STREET ADDRESSES: Navajo residents do not have street addresses. I added MOTHER EARTH ROAD to internet map to locate us. Otherwise, please follow the map I send you. Our ADDRESS: is NOT in KAYENTA. We are in MONUMENT VALLEY, AZ just off highway 163, mile post 416. Look for MOTHER EARTH ROAD. Take a picture of your map as you will be offline. Internet is hard to get in this remote area. Navajo Nation is on DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME from March to October. Plan your travel schedule to UT.
