Glamping fun on the Whanganui River!

(No Cleaning Fees) Accessed only by an aerial cable car across the river, this is the ultimate ‘glamping’ experience – All the joys of camping with the comfort of a real bed and plenty of space! PLEASE NOTE: *Driveway not suitable for camper vans of any kind *Check in times are not flexible due to the cable car The space Bellbird Corner is fully equipped with comfortable bed and bedding, towels, a sofa, chairs and table, crockery and cutlery. Whilst 'Glampers' share the kitchen and shower facilities of the campsite there is your own space to relax on the raised deck and a small gas BBQ for your sole use. This location offers the ability to get away from the hustle and bustle of modern life and experience an eco-friendly retreat with an emphasis on organics and sustainability. This quirky bell tent is set in a quiet corner of our campsite surrounded by native bush and organic orchards. During the day you can swim in the river, follow a number of walking tracks or just relax! By night you can sit on the deck and gaze at the night stars or watch the deer browsing under the avocados. Breakfast and packed lunches are available at additional cost. Please ask when booking. PLEASE NOTE: The Bell tent and campsite are completely off grid. We do not have flushing toilets or a state of the art kitchen/bathroom. The place is designed to enable guests to experience off-grid camping in the bush but with a comfortable bed and well equipped tent. The bell tent is for your sole use. The shared campsite facilities include a basic kitchen shelter with a two burner gas hob. There is cold running water along with a covered seating area, however, there is a fridge/freezer for guests use in a nearby building. There is a private gas BBQ for cooking located next to the tent. A hot shower is located in the bush along with a wood fired bush bath. Two clean composting toilets and an additional shower are located nearby. Bellbird Corner is not suitable for small children. Guest access Bellbird Corner is part of the property known as The Flying Fox. We have off -road private parking. From the car-park you travel in an aerial cable car across the river to our small and unique accommodation site. For this reason we ask that you respect our check in times of 3 - 7.00pm( or dark if earlier) as there may not be anyone available to operate the cable car outside of these times. There is no public transport locally although we can organise transport to/from Whanganui township on the local mail run (extra cost, please ask when booking). Other things to note *This accommodation is not suitable for small children *Access is only by cable car across the river so we cannot accept early/late check ins *There is no cell phone reception but free wi-fi is available. *We are an hour's drive from the nearest supermarket but have a small shop on site for the basics plus a range of treats such as beer, wine and home made goodies.
